The Dragon Ball Super intro is just…super

Dragon-Ball-Super

Cast your mind back. It’s 2001, and Dragon Ball Z is finally on TV. And it’s worth it. It’s worth sitting through a f***ing appearance of Dub, and hearing that familiar guitar tune rattle off. Because when you hear it, you just know that your inner dragon…is about to be rawked.

And that was a deal-maker for anime series back in the day. Original Japanese dubbing? No, screw that noise. If you were going to the trouble of hiring English voice actors, you better make damn well certain that you hired a band to perform a new intro song as well.

It worked for Naruto. It worked for Knights of the Zodiac. It worked for Spider Riders. It even worked for Beyblade, the worst anime series of all time about super-powered dreidels.

And while it’ll most likely still be a while before Dragon Ball Super gets dubbed on over by Funimation and then gets re-dubbed by Team Four-Star, you can at least check out the Japanese intro for the new series:

Oh yeah. OH YEAH. That’s what I’m talkin’ about! It’s no head-chala, but it is a Dragon Ball opening which isn’t exclusively for a video game for once! It has so been worth the 18 year wait. And now to wait that little bit longer for the superior English dub, which will hopefully be uncensored as well.

I know the gap has been filled with movies and the occasional special during the hiatus, but there’s something magical about getting a dedicated Dragon Ball series again. Hell, I’m even grinning like an absurdly-powered up antagonist right now.

  1. This makes me so giddy but… Watching it with the Subs and the Japanese voice acting makes it a bit awkward xD
What made DBZ for me was always the dub, but it’s sad that we won’t be seeing it anytime soon for this series 😐

to be fair, its just goku and gotens voices that are problems.
      the rest are fairly excellent.

you have not felt real pain untill youve heard a japanese goku scream KAMEHAMEHA while you’re wearing headphones.

I want to watch the original series again. How does one get it? Do I have to download it off pirate bay, can I buy a DVD box set or will I have to stream it on Youtube?

Give Dragonball Kai a shot, Its the original Z series with ramped up quality in animation and all the filler episodes cut away.

it really didnt work for naruto.
naruto english dub is like, the worst dub ever made.

more relevant, theyr still busy releasing dubs for Dragon ball Kai arent they?
will that interfere or help with the dubbing for super? generally dubs start appearing towards the end of the season of japanese releases.

Absolutely not! Naruto dubbed is the best dub I’ve ever seen.
I, like many others, prefer it over the subbed version of naruto.
If the dub didn’t work for naruto, they would’ve shut it down long back.

One piece, on the other hand, sucks in both versions.

couldnt stand it, the pronunciations of the names are just so bad.

watched like, 5 minutes of it on animax once, was unbearable.

for the same reasons i think the japanese dub for DBZ is terribad. the voices just dont fit the characters and their talking animations.

one piece is an odd one though, the japanese dub is vastly superior, but the dub wasnt the deciding factor for that, you either love one piece or you dont, regardless of the dub.
