I don’t care what any news anchor or church group has to say, because gamers can be the most generous and giving people in the world. Especially when there’s a bargain to be had in the process. All kidding aside, the latest Humble Bundle that featured EA Origin games has just proven this, making quite a few millions in the process for charity.
The Humble Origin Bundle has closed with 2.1+ mil bundles sold & $10.5+ mil in sales! Thanks for helping make Humble Bundle history!
— Humble Bundle (@humble) August 28, 2013
The EA-backed bundle made more than $10.5 million, with the majority of that cash going to charities, human rights organisations, the San Francisco AIDS foundation and the American Red Cross according to Polygon.
And it’s hard not to see why this bundle sold well. There were some fantastic games on offer, with the bundle offering Dead Space, Dead Space 3, Crysis 2 Maximum Edition, Burnout Paradise: The Ultimate Box, Medal of Honor and Mirror’s Edge. For whichever price you wanted. Hell, pay a little bit extra, and you got Battlefield 3 and The Sims 3. And then it got even better with the addition of Populous and Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3 – Uprising.
So well done EA, that’s how you get some brownie points on your side.

I have not seen a decent C&C/Red Alert game for too long. This one, for me, is one of those that didn’t make the cut.

Square Enix should do the same with their games. Then they can make those elusive profit margins

Didn’t buy this. I have Dead Space 3 because it came free with another game, obviously have Battlefield. And those would be the reasons to get it.

Most of the games were available on steam. Just BF and DS3, RA and populous had to be origin. But I have to agree though. I also want all my games in the same place.

They will probably have the headlines “Gamers promote Gay rights by helping Aids victims in San Francisco” with proof from one of their self help nutter loons who wrote a book about GAMES KILL but has never even seen a game. It is what the soccer moms want to hear.

Welcome to the addiction my young friend, for the Sims is truly the greatest sandbox RPG ever created…. It awakens a sadistic compulsion in me, to play as a straight-laced business executive, who’s juggling his career and the needs of his family….
Dafuq indeed!
But seriously, Sims 3 is awesome.
