The first 20 minutes of Bloodborne are a bad dream

Bloodborne blood monster

From Software know how to create ambiance. All their games have a combination of gruesome and terrifying mixed with glorious light and beauty. Bloodborne, of course, will have similar elements. However, this video showing the first 20 minutes of Bloodborne sets up the plot and builds some incredible atmosphere.

Here is the video courtesy of IGN First’s special arrangement with the PlayStation Blog.

And for those who can’t YouTube at work or whatever the excuse is, here’s a link just for you.

I like that they show at the start of the game that the protagonist is getting a blood transfusion, warned that the rest might seem to be a dream. Could this mean that the rest of the game is using that cop out of an excuse for why things are the way they are? Maybe, but I doubt it. There is room for a whole lot more lore than just “it was all a dream” as a rationale.

I’m curious if diehard fans will, um, die in the same way so early on in the game – is there a way past that initial enemy, or is the whole point to accept that you will die early and consistently?

I still can’t get over how gorgeous the game looks and sounds. Being built for the better hardware, I’m confident that Bloodborne will impress From Software fans, as well as lure in some new victims. The game seems a bit more accessible than Souls games – not that it will be easier, but simply that it will be more welcoming for new players to jump in. Of course, once they do so, they will lose their humanity to the game. Or is it blood now?

Such a shame that this has to be a PS4 exclusive, would have enjoy’d it on PC, where 60% of my humanity is and 40% of my dignity, it has taken everything!!!

If it wasn’t for Sony, Demon’s Souls, Dark Souls, and Bloodborne wouldn’t exist. Time to let go of your fanboyism of a piece of PC plastic and buy a PS4 to support the people who brought you the game.

Dude i got both a PC and PS3, and planning on a Xbox One, but i prefer my PC, because? Personal Taste, everybody has it, so no “fanboyism” here as i don’t care for such childish notions as i only want to game no matter the platform, control scheme or monitor/TV, if i could game from a brick by God i would do it…:-P

Lol, playing inferior games on an inferior system and trying to justify it through rightful ownership. Typical sony fanboy.

One of the things that made Dark Souls 2 shit was that enemies attack animations would follow you 360 degrees. Bloodborne doesn’t seem to have that shit. Bloodborne could be enjoyable to play just like Dark Souls 1.
Bloodborne is a reason to buy and own a PS4.

There’s probably a way passed the first wolf creature, but then likely a super devil monster thing just squishes you, ala Daemons Souls’ Dragon God.

Im not a huge graphics whore, but must admit I thought it would look a bit better. The first wolf that approaches him thats bathed in blood looked really good until it tries to touch him and I was like… damn his claw/hands looks bad… Like that colored saying goes: “Mooi van ver, maar ver van mooi” lol

What is this Souls of Duty? It may please aesthetically, but it really seems like the common rehash pulled by Fromsoft.

Why change what’s not broken? The souls games may have some flaws but what game doesn’t! If they changed too much they risk losing the loyal fan base they have established over the years! These games are leaps and bounds above all other games imo and this one shall be no different!

Will it be another overrated Alpha looking down from the monolithic “youtublicity”? It’s about to be seen…

This game simply isn’t that good, but unfortunately the Souls series has a fanatic cult-like following which has convinced everyone that poor design is a “feature”. Long load times, poor frame rates, sparse story, limited weapons/skill options, easily-cheesed AI and bugs are either ignored or celebrated. The fanbase says the load times “add to the challenge”. The reviewers spout out crap like “for those brave and patient enough to endure, it’s a great game”. Why on earth do I need to be patient with bad design? lol

Anyways, here’s a perfect example of what this “masterpiece” has to offer: http://kotaku.com/bad-bloodborne-bug-makes-boss-battles-way-too-easy-1695696861

Save your money and time, don’t get it.

      Greetings…!

Finally someone talking some sense! Well said MDS! For my part, I find the entire Souls series to be a vapid, unremarkable dungeon crawler with one of the least compelling nigh-nonexistent narratives in contemporary gaming.

      …Best of Regards…

Bought it and sold it two days later. Its hard alright and yes, I sucked at it. But it wasn’t fun, just boring and tedious. Can’t really understand the high praise it is getting, but obviously Bloodborne just wasn’t my thing.
