You can never have too many games. At least that’s what I said to my mom before she was crushed in an avalanche of Dance Dance Revolution and DJ Hero games. I’ll miss her, but at least I was right. Also, if I had bought online, she’d still be alive. Dangit.

Jagged Alliance: Back in action

Old school lives again baby! A remake of the cult classic Jagged Alliance MS-DOS sequel, JA: BIA doesn’t just slather on a new coat of high definition paint on this update, it brings the actual gameplay up to modern day snuff as well.

But it’s still your isometric usual, while allowing players to still choose classic gameplay modes to go with those new-fangled extras. It may be an action game, but it’s the kind of action that requires strategy and tactics, something seldom seen in games today.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution

These days, first person games require you to shoot first, and ask questions later. That’s Robocop logic, and a train of thought that you won’t find in Deus Ex: Human Revolution. The prequel to the classic games that came before it, Human Revolution is the thinking man’s FPS game.

It’s also shockingly beautiful, has one of the best soundtracks in gaming history and happens to be single-player only, as all the effort for that game went into crafting one fine narrative experience.

Sleeping Dogs

Sure, Grand Theft Auto 5 arrives in September, but one thing that it won’t have, is kung-fu. Sleeping Dogs is the sandbox dog that may be smaller, but has a ton more fight inside of it. Set in the bustling underworld of Hong Kong, it’s pure John Woo action and adrenaline.

Sleeping Dogs is all about action, and with polished gameplay that makes all forms of combat, from gun to fist, worth putting in the effort for, it’s also pretty damn satisfying. Add in some great characters, visuals and side-missions, and you’ve got one of the most underrated sandbox titles of 2012 right here.

Remember, Gamers Gate games are hosted on Mweb servers, so for once, locals get to enjoy download speeds that make the concept of buying games online actually worthwhile and more convenient than heading outside into the cold to a bricks and mortar games shop.

It is really awesome yes. But buying it after the Steam sale for more than double is kind of like going to a party and leaving before ten.
