The good, the bad and the ugly of the last week – 5 April 2013

And I find it kind of funny, I find it kind of sad. The dreams of playing Star Wars 1313 are the best we’ve ever had. I find it hard to tell you, I find it hard to take. When Disney shuts down LucasArts it’s a very, very mad world… MAD WORLD. And now that I’ve ruined the day for you by getting that song stuck in your head, here’s the weekly roundup.

Best Story

It’s been quite a grim week, bad news all round but there must have been some good news in there somewhere right? Right!? The best story of the week is a hard one to decide on. I’m stuck between Team S.A kicking ass in the Nations Cup and the best cosplay in the universe, ever. Ah what the hell! I’m giving this award to the amazing Tasha, with her super sexy Kerrigan cosplay.

Worst Story

Where to begin??? Like it wasn’t enough that Ubisoft wants to make a new Assassin’s Creed every year, Tomb Raider is looking like a commercial failure, the Xbox failing in Japan, the free SimCity DLC is rubbish and that Lucas Arts died, we have to find out that Comic-Con South Africa is a steaming pile of horse manure. Some one please give us a do-over for this week! The worst of the worst though, has to be the closure of LucasArts.

Best ION Header

With only three of these to choose from, it’s made my job a lot easier. The ION header of the week is no doubt Sophie Howard.

Most Comments

AWW YEEAHHH! The Master Race has spoken! The most comments go to Garth’s review of the Razer Anansi MMO Keyboard with 117 comments. Or at least until Gavin walked away with 124 comments on his excellent piece on Comic Con SA being a sham.

Least Comments

Well, well, looks like I’m not taking this one this week. MUAHAHAH! I mean, (and I’m writing this with a very sad face) the least comments go to Gavin for his Gears of War: Judgement comp will be live streamed.

Batman of the week

Gavin showed some real journalistic skills putting together that Comic-Con article, and for that, he is Batman!

Best Header Image

haters-gonna-hate.jpg

It was a close one between Geoff’s zebra finding himself with the unfortunate disposition of being eaten by lions and Gavin’s cat. The cat however just glided by shouting: Haters Gonna Haaaaaate!

Best Comment

Sad but true ladies and gents, Jim Lenoir takes the crown this week with his hard hitting words of truth.

Come on lads, let’s be honest here, when LAST did Lucasarts create a game that was (a) good and (b) worth your money? While it’s sad that star wars 1313 and the studio went the way of a rotting COD fish, Star Wars needs a kick in the creative pants. It desperately needed new blood, because after the last movies it was clear that George Lucas had lost his damn mind, and his bag of mojo.

Well done Garth! Woohoooo! Gavin’s one doesn’t count because it was done today! 😛

And darnit Banana Jim! Can’t you just let us wallow in self pitty and mourn the loss of Lucasarts before you go all “logic” on us? *Harumph*

I still have a pet-lip from the LucasArts demise. Jim’s “facts” can be summarily ignored until someone has kissed that booboo byebye.

Hai nee sies dude. Saw a guy trying to eat one of em. The wrapper it was in was dripping. Dripping! From all the oil. Ha-eh. #HeartAttack

And yet you probably eat cake, which has (usually) TWO cups of oil in 😉 #justsaying trollololo!

Actually… I don’t. I actually almost never eat cakes or puddings of any sort. Even at weddings. I simply skip dessert 🙂

And even if I did eat cake, those 2 cups of oil are spread through the whole cake. Not that one piece I’m eating…. Unlike the Double-Down which aims to contain the power of a thousand sunflower oil containers worth of oil in 2 pieces of chicken 😛

A friend of mine had one and was extremely disappointed. In his own words: “R60 for some chips, Coke and a Glorified Chicken Nugget! Not again”

Shame man, mine was awesome. Not something to be eaten often (like, once a year) but was crispy and yum!

Agreed, totally over-priced. It’s just a novelty I think. Hence me just trying it once. I have a few more arteries that are now running 25% more over-stressed, can’t take those out too… 0_O

Walk away! Keep walking… Ba ha ha, cracks me every time.
But you right, the product looks shocking. Even a normal KFC burgers makes me feel sick now. I’d rather take up something safer, like shark wrestling…

Well now we know who’s to blame with the COD hating. :O
I almost killed my friend last night. Told him about lucasarts, he started crying. Then told him marvel were major sponsor in comic con sa, and he became a walking fat human vibrator of excitement, AND THEN, he found out it was a “steaming pile of manure” and started crying again. lol
