The Kinect is now the fasted adopted consumer electronic device ever

According to the latest sales figures by Microsoft the Kinect has now become the fastest adopted consumer electronics device ever, ousting the recent heir to the throne, the iPad.

The iPad took 2 months to sell 2 million iPads, at a minimum price of $500, and has now settled down to selling around 4.5 million every quarter.

In comparison the Kinect has sold 2.5 million units in 25 days and is expected to sell 5 million before the end of the year in less than 2 months on sale.

Whether the device will keep up it’s sales rate after Christmas is up for much debate but generally the feedback has been good and if the casual market becomes attached it very well could.

I think both the iPad and Kinect are a bit too expensive to be heirs to the “thrown”. 😛

Prices for the first players when they were released in 1997 were over $1000. 3 years later they were available for $100.

But 3 years later how many DVD player makers were there and how many were as arrogant as Apple and MS. Also pretty much all DVD players are more or less the same with only slight feature differences.

Kinect on the other hand competition are taking completely different approaches with different products.

Apple on the other hand would never decrease their price because they believe they worth it. Although other tablets are emerging like the Samsung galaxy tab, Dell Streak and Playbook from RIM (which is teh one I am waiting for) they still not going to drive don Apples price although hopefully they will compete on price.

lol Bobby, I’m not surprised at all that Microsoft’s Kinect is YOUR enemy. Beware….someday Kinect will rule the earth, and you will be it’s slave, it your master! 😉
