The Last Guardian pops up on Amazon

I don’t know if I’m alone with this but The Last Guardian is starting to feel a bit like Duke Nukem Forever. Full of early promise but it has now been in development for 7 full years and is already 3 years past its first official planned release date.

Originally the game was touted as a PlayStation 3 exclusive but recently the rumours have been pointing to the obvious need to bring the game to the new PlayStation 4 if it ever gets released.

However a new page has popped up on Amazon allowing people to pre-order The Last Guardian but only for the PlayStation 3.

We can see that release date is an obvious place holder and other than that there really isn’t much else to see. It’s entirely possible that Amazon has just guessed this one to try and get some extra pre-orders in, or they know a release date is going to be announced at E3 and they have jumped the gun.

I remember when the first trailer was shown everyone was amazed at the size and detail of the game, however looking at it now and it really is looking dated.

The only reason I want it released now is so that the hard core fans can stop bringing it up and we can move onto bigger and better things.

[Thanks Brian for the tip]

It’s been a while and I can’t remember but is this the game about guardian owls or the guardians of the galaxy?

I have an ongoing bet with my PS hardened friend. This or HL3. If HL3 gets released first I win a Johnny Walker Blue. Same goes for if I lose but at this point it could go either way.

Already finished off both bottles we bought. No sense in keeping perfectly good liqueur standing there for years.

    Half Life 3?

I do wonder about studios like Team Ico. If there only job is to make 1 game, surely, not finishing it, regardless of what state it’s in means closing down?

or was the cash influx from porting the ICO collection to PS3 enough to keep them afloat?

I realize that this is a simple question. Sony’s obviously footing the bill for this, but i’m still curious as to how a studio can appear “dormant” for so long and not be dead.

Well Team Ico is a smaller team within Studio Japan. So the financial aspect can be ignored so long as the Studio as an entirety can make money. My personal feeling is that Sony really believes in this game. Not as a financially viable product but as an artistic one. They recently canceled a game at Sony Santa Monica so they have no problem pulling the plug on a project. This game has been in development for about 9 years so the only explanation I can think of is that they just have faith in it.

“looking dated”? Hell I thought was a new teaser trailer 😉
The success of the PS4 has to insure a further bank roll to TEAM ICO.

    Otherwise WHAT ARE THEY THINKING!!!?

Also, if Final Fantasy Versus XIII AKA FF15 is a hit then I will pluck all of my feathers out.

So it looks a lot like a Vita Pets type game? Could work well with the move controller, or something like Kinectimals! ????
