Division (6)

You ever been to New York City? It’s an odd place, one that is built on creaking architecture and looks like it might fall into the Hudson River at any moment. And yet, it has a certain charm to it. Sure, there are tourist spots such as Times Square and Central Park, but the five boroughs of the most infamous city on the planet are also home to some charming secrets.

New York as a video game location is something that has been rendered into games dozens of times already. Maybe you’ve swung through it in a Spider-Man game, experienced the infected boroughs in Prototype or practiced your ollies in a Tony Hawk Pro Skater level. Been there, got the achievement. But this year, I think Ubisoft nailed the definitive version of New York.

All the claustrophobic streets, the century-old buildings and the numerous monuments to captilism run amok. The New York City in the Division may not be crawling with civilians out of every corner, but it’s the smaller details that make it so amazing.

Division (1)

Whether it’s the monuments to all the cellphones lost during the Dollar-Flu pandemic.

Division (2)

Lessons in producing napalm.

Division (3)

The spirit of Christmas surviving a plague for the ages.

Division (4)

Tinfoil hat conspiracy theories about fluoride in the water.

Division (5)

The enduring art of band session posters.

Division (7)

Club fees being a bit over the top.

Division (8)

A target range that probably didn’t pass inspection.

Division (9)

No noose being good noose.

Division (11)

Seeing just how many agents were lost in the first wave of rescue efforts.

Division (12)

Alongside the countless numbers of missing civilians.

Division (13)

People reaching their breaking point with car guards.

Division (14)

Grafitti out of an Insidious movie.

Division (15)

Desperate pleas for families to reunite.

Division (17)

Or the downright mind-boggling logistics behind getting an entire grand piano down to the docs by yourself, Ubisoft Massive nailed the character of this iconic city. New York New York, what a place. And they’re bliksems man, last night we approached a supply drop so this coward rogue decides to attack us from behind, when we eventually pay him our dues in lead, he keeps following us until we meet enemies, runs out in front of us and suddenly we’re rogue…

Same thing happened to us last night. But I will soon have my revenge now that we can accurately farm hard mode Falcon Lost. After a single attempt last night we thought we were invincible and tried challenge mode …… lol.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! That was a big mistake, we uhm did it on hard, full team with pretty high gear scores all round, we suffered for a good 30 minutes through that level, it is insane! I’ll avoid challenging until my gear score is closer to, I don’t know, a billion…

Apparently after last nights exploit hotfix a new exploit that is even easier is now making the rounds.

Seriously Massive just needs to remove Mobile cover and it would fix 90% of the exploits.

The story behind the lady playing the piano is quite interesting and something I really enjoyed.

The April Kelleher story line was the one I enjoyed most in the game, & there’s also evidently a print book that ties into it, with clues to easter eggs & other things to find outside the game.

I didn’t test this extensively, but the one or two times I compared what was in the game world to what was on google streetview, and found that yes, there is in fact a pizza place on this corner in game and in the real world, was pretty cool.
