The New Frostbite: Pushing The Limits of Visuals

EAPress Conference

There is no denying that the frostbite engine sure is pretty to look at. EA are making a push with it, demonstrating some of their titles that utilize it.

It was believed that something from the Star Wars universe would make an appearance. Star Wars: Battlefront showed ever so briefly, to loud whoops from the crowd. No further details emerged, but it is safe to say that gamers around the world are rejoicing.

Next up is a demonstration of the new Need for Speed game. There seems to be quite a focus on online connectivity, but I am not sure exactly to what extent.  The on stage multiplayer demonstration had one participant being part of the game via his tablet. The gameplay looks fast and furious (see what I did there?) with one player driving away from the pursuit of the police with haste.

Following this demonstration, we are shown that there is to be a Need For Speed movie, hitting theatres in Spring 2014 (so April 2014 for us I believe). I’m not too sure how I feel about the movie, as the fast and the furious movies have been doing high speed racing for a few years now. Regardless, this may breathe a new breathe of fresh life into the genre. If done correctly, it can compliment the game launch nicely.

  1. If EA focused more on making games than profit … who knows!
