The Playstation Phone is real… maybe..

Yesterday Engadget posted up some pictures which it claims were shots of the upcoming Sony Playstation Phone running on Google’s Android OS.

A few hours later a Sony representative came out and claimed the images and phone were fake. However that has now changed and the official line is the utterly boring “We do not comment on rumour and speculation”.

Engadget has now decided to come out and defend it’s posting.

A summary of the criticism levied against the phone is as follows

  • Screen shows A & B buttons instead of the symbols Sony uses
  • The phones have dust collecting in the corners
  • The phones are ugly

Engadget response is that they are 100% convinced that this phone is real as it has been confirmed by multiple insider sources and they have now been told the projects codename, Zeus…(Something thas has also been backed up by the guys over at VG247)[pullquote]Engadget response is that they are 100% convinced that this phone is real as it has been confirmed by multiple insider sources and they have now been told the projects codename, Zeus[/pullquote]

The phone is apparently also running on Android 2.x but it is expected to be upgraded to 3.x before it’s release and the A+B buttons are being put down as simply older software and the dirt would be from the hardware being hand built and obviously not as pin perfect as the machines are capable of.

They also back up their story with the fact that they have broken tons of these stories before including the iPhone 4, iPad, Macbook Air and the Dell Venue Pro.

Personally I don’t see Engadget lying about this and the device is so logical how can it possibly not be happening deep inside Sony.

Looks like crap imo. Needs a paint-job.
