The PS3 is the best Blu-Ray player

It’s been a while since I have posted any Blu-ray stories and to be honest it’s because nothing has happened. The format is rolling along and from my ivory thrown I am yet to see it pick up any real speed.

And now with the current economic crisis I am very doubtful of it doing much in the way of sales over the silly season, but then again when you can’t afford to go out to eat or party the least you can do is watch a movie in the best way possible.

So if you need to pick yourself up a Blu-Ray player then which one should you get?

Blu-ray.com has put 13 players through their paces from all makes of manufacturer and have come to the unanimous conclusion that the PS3 is by far and away the best player on the market at the moment.

You can see their results here

It needs to be mentioned that these results don’t take into account the actual video or audio produced but are more to do with how the player works. But we know the PS3’s video and audio is outstanding so I don’t think that is anything to worry about.

Problem is – normal blu-ray players are now sub $200 with the ps3 still $400 so sales will be split between them

Lol, actually What HiFi! did a comparison test and the PS3 came 3rd in terms of outright visual and audio performance. But this was agianst the best of the best. The PS3 still loaded the movies much faster and they much preferred the whole interface.

Bluray is getting big over here in the states. New release DVD’s are now released simultaneously on BD and every third ad on tv is for Bluray.

I heard some news on Sony lowering the Cost of the ps3 in October 2009. I wonder if this will be the case. I aslo feel the PS3 will remian the top selling blu ray player.
