The PS4 Console Finally Revealed Officially: Details Emerge

PS Conference[1]

This E3 has been anticipated as viewers wait for a closer look at the Playstation 4. Not just game wise, but aesthetically too. How will the next gen box from Sony actually look?

It is a box for sure, but it looks fantastic. It carries elements of matte as well as shiny, and I think it perfectly suits the next generation perfectly. Pricing is still to be announced, but we will let you know as soon as we do!

Sony is one of the largest entertainment brands in the world, and this does not only mean in the sense of gaming. The Playstation 4 will have access to much content from Sony Pictures, including movie, series and music. Video unlimited and Music unlimited will be available from day one, allowing access to the latest video and music content. Not only is  the PS4 a gaming console, but it does have the multimedia capabilities. A nice addition to any gamers living room.

Moving away from non gaming stuff, what games will the Playstation 4 offer? There are over 30 PS4 titles currently in development, with 20 set to be available by the end of the year. Out of those 20 titles, 12 of them are brand new IP’s.

The first big reveal from PS4 is, surprise surprise, NOT God of War! It is however, a game created by the same gaming studio. Quite frankly, its about time they moved away from the GoW series into some new territory. What is it then? The world shown is very reminiscent of Dishonored, set in what appears to be the UK. Mutant creatures run rampant, and some explosive gunplay action ensues. This game is called The Order: 1886

Following up is a minor look at 4 of the already announced PS4 titles, including the new Killzone: Shadow Fall, Driveclub, Infamous: Second Son (which is my favourite of the lot) and finally, Knack. All of these games look fantastic, and I’m fairly certain that at least one of them will appeal to the majority of gamers (depending on their personal preference obviously). If not one, I’d say all of them. All games apart from Infamous will be launched with the PS4. Infamous will be launched in the first quarter of 2014.

Oh and those all important images

  1. The Game formerly known as Final Fantasy Versus XIII (FF XV). That is all. If it can be a launch title, Microsoft can suck it.

Ugh I hate the design of the console. But I feel Sony has done everything right for the Next Gen.

Console looks good, news so far is good (I’m still catching up on the news I missed yesterday) and the controller doesn’t look bad (even though I’m used to the X360 controller), also good news on new IPs and games… step in the right direction… now for more reading.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder – To me it looks like two pieces of bread that where plopped together by a squint person. But saying that – the PS4 is a win – Great games and looking after the gamer and the price is reasonable. Well done Sony. :). MS have to re-look their policies. They are crazy!

I’m concerned about 1 thing. Publishers choosing to back the Xbone because hell, used game licenses means more revenue in their pockets. Are we going to see more exclusives on the xbone than on the PS4?

Also, go eat a dick MS

I was thinking the same thing, but then again i think more gamers would move to PS4 than X1. I think this is where we will see whether the used games market really has a big impact on publishers or not. If sales of games are higher on PS4 then it would be obvious that used games market doesn’t affect the publishers a lot.

Money talks, and I think if the PS4 gets more sales, developers and publishers will be forced to jump ship again, or at least reconsider their decision to stick with the bone. Thing is, I’m sure they’re noticing the negativity surrounding the bone, and that will factor in, whether or not they want to brave the storm or head for Playstation cove.

So True. Microsoft is taking one serious risk this generation. I wont be surprised once the consoles are out for a good couple month that an infographic will pop up showing the percentage of gamers who uses the PS4 for pure gaming entertainment and another percentage of users who uses the X1 for movies, skype, live shows, TV and they will be the casual kinda people who just want to cash in on technology just so they can say they have one.

Ok, maybe I’m weird but it kind of looks like a Wii… like a sexy black Wii… from a separate alternate universe/dimension.
