Yesterday evening a few rumours started spreading that the PSN was once again down and that they were unable to get their Resistance MP on.
Sony followed up with a tweet announcing that the PSN was down and that they were looking into it.
A little while later PlayStation Europe announced
PlayStation Network engineers are working hard on restoring the service. However, we have no news on when it will be back online
Which didn’t fill many people with confidence as no timeline for it re-appearing means they don’t really know what went wrong.
They then tweeted back
Current indications are that we’ll be restoring PlayStation Network services in approx. two hours. We appreciate your patience.
And around 2 hours later posted that the PSN was back up and running.
Unfortunately what they haven’t yet said what went wrong, was it another security breach or a hardware failure or something else entirely?
It’s this lack of communication that got them in so much trouble before but this time it looks like it was a minor issue and in reality the entire PSN never went down it appeared to be more a sporadic issue affecting only certain areas.
Thankfully I was playing Gears of War Horde mode the whole night and didn’t notice so I’m fine with it.
