I think that this little comic strip sums the situation with DRM up pretty darn perfectly. A better solution really needs to be found, and soon because it’s just sad to know that all of the loyal customers out there are still being screwed for doing the right thing.

I have a solution. Advertising, before you gag rage and have mentle flipswitch breakdown bombs, I’m talking dynamic advertising. Displaying real life brands in a fictional settings, without being in your face (for instance, in game bill boards), that way the developers can sell cheap, the advertiser get there product effectively displayed, the gamer remains unaffected, it’s a win win win situation 🙂

I agree, I have said it before that I find ingame advertising to actually add to the quality of the game. Seeing adverts for DSTV or kalahari.net in GTA4 would make it cooler in my opinion and localised advertising is already possible so it can be done.
