The rumour that just won’t lay down and die is back again.
Metal Gear Solid 4 is coming to the Xbox 360. This is not a rumor. This is straight from a Konami distribution representative’s mouth. The game is already in production and has been since early 2007.
Apparently this has once again been confirmed by a Konami insider and Microsoft is not denying it’s true. Actually the response that Xboxfamily.com received from Microsoft is quite lengthy.
Which is strange because you normally just get a “We do not comment on rumours” email returned when you ask about stuff like this.
Apparently the 360 version of MGS4 will arrive in 2009 to give the PS3 version a 12 – 14 month head start.

Sigh. You love baiting me, huh 🙂 ? Okay, so let’s look at the implications of this “rumour”:
1) Firstly, I’m still of the belief that this is not true and if it is, we’re looking more at an 18 month “timed delay”.
2) 12-14 months? The fanfare and reverence will not nearly be enough for Microsoft to consider it a coup. Look at what happened with Gears on PC. We had all played it, and even with new chapters, not nearly enough interest was illicited to go back to it.
3) Sony, unless Stringer and co are insane, need to, and will – and, in my belief have been – fighting for this title. Even if it means paying Konami enough such that Sony barely breaks even, then that is what needs to be done. Metal Gear really is Sony’s Weed – the gateway drug into PS3 land.
My belief. Now, Lazy, this is the last time you and I will ever discuss this again 🙂 . No, really, we’re about to beat this poor horse comatose.

@Ocelot, two things… That site is quite well down and I normally report on each and every MGS4 to 360 rumour.. Just ask Pillsubury 😉

Personally I always got my Stealth action kicks from Mr Sam Fisher and Agent 47 , never could get into a character that sounded like a bad case of morning glory. I am however of the opinion that any developer who goes the exclusive route this gen is leaving a lot of cash on the table. Look at the combined sales of COD 4 and AC , had Ubisoft or Infinity Ward opted for the single platform route they would have lost a bundle.
