The Sims 4 delayed until Q3 2014

All we seem to hear about lately is game delays – I’m still in mourning about Watch Dogs. Now, EA has announced that The Sims 4 will only ship in fall (northern hemisphere) 2014. PC gamers will just have to wait to get all emotional with their new simulated friends.

The Sims 4 was originally scheduled for early 2014, but EA has since announced that it will only ship in Fall 2014. Don’t worry, though – at least now you have time to pre-order and get a free upgrade to the Limited Edition. Or, for the diehard fans among you, there’s also an Origin-exclusive Digital Deluxe version that comes with the same “Life of the Party” add on as the Limited Edition, plus some as yet unknown extras.

I will confess, I played the original Sims. I played it a lot. I remember renovating my house, running out of money and forcing my Sims to wake up at 4am to start washing their hands because I didn’t have a shower in the house and they needed to fill that stupid hygiene meter. Ah, those were good times. I haven’t played the subsequent Sims, although I’ve been informed by the guys that it will fall to me to play it. At least now I have a year to prepare myself.

Are you saddened by the delay until you can force some fake people into a room and see if they play well together? Do you try to recreate people in your life and understand them using Sims algorithms? I know plenty of people consider the Sims a guilty pleasure – don’t be shy, share your awesome/awful experiences in the simulated world!

This should disappoint half the planet (no jokes), but for me – I’ve tried every Sims game (which I blame on my ex who loved the hell out of them) – and yet after a few hours of play I just get bored. There’s literally nothing worthwhile doing, except the same drama that I actively try to avoid in real life.

Yes I’m aware of the irony in that last statement. Don’t judge me.

Can you equip your sims with chainmail armour and have them fight to the death in a grand arena?

As a huge SimCity fan growing up I was super psyched when I heard about the Sims. After I got the game from a friend and installed it I couldn’t play it! I needed DX7! Was so bummed. But then I got dx7 a day later and built a replica of my house…likabaus.

Don’t pretend you just let your sims enjoy life! Everyone has built a room without a door and watched as the sim pleaded.

My Sim had a kid that looked like he was going to be a serial killer when he grew up. He had this vacant eyed stare to him that unnerved me to be honest. He was one animal torture away from snapping and murdering us all in our sleep.
Quickly made that kid child welfares’ problem…

Interesting theory. I’m not so sure thats true though – the Sims already had a winning formula (game +100 expansions that cost full price for every iteration). The only reason they’d delay this is to make shit work that was promised that isn’t working, or polish, or adding something cool new into the mix. Thats my opinion, so here – take it with a pinch of tp.

Yes there might be some flaw in my theory, the Sims market mainly will probably not consist of FPS gamers. But then again even I love a good Sims session just too lean back open a beer and see how my little Sims run around to do my every bidding 😛

Sims games need to be bale to do more! Like Add in extra things… Give them pets from the get go! Things like that, they need to screw the expansions till much later and make a massive game! Like you can even shoot people if you want to! like tell sim grab gun, shoot neighbour! THAT would make sims fun! like do stuff like be really evil if you wanted to be.

          • SaintsRowNigri

            October 23, 2013 at 09:24

Nah. That would make the Sims too dark. Remember it is meant to be a caricature of real life. On the other hand, I would love to have the option to make my Sim a serial killer… Strike fear into the heart of the town… I need help

    Awww sad Sim in Header.

I actually like The Sims, surprisingly… but I doubt I’d go out of my way to get The Sims 4, delay or no delay. Just the fact that you buy a game, and then have to fork out for another 12 expansions just for The Sims 5 to be released doesn’t make financial sense to me.

The Sims is a money making racket, always has been.
