The Uncharted PS4 game is finally official

Uncharted (9)

It’s been a rumour, a myth and a maybe from Sony and developer Naughty Dog about the Uncharted series getting a new entry into the franchise. Well rumour no more, because an official new game is on the way.

At the Playstation All Access launch event last night, Naughty Dog confirmed that work had begun on a new treasure-hunting game, with the following trailer where someone has their revenge goggles set to maximum ominous voice-over.

And that’s all that Jessica Fletcher wrote, regarding details. Whether it’s a direct sequel, prequel or reboot, I have no idea. But personally, I’m going with the rule of three in the gaming industry, and putting my cash down that it’ll be a prequel.

According to Naughty Dog, there are some clues in the trailer. So here, examine these screenshots that I took and see if you can find any.

  1. Hope it is not a prequel, they don’t seem to work that well.

But Uncharted on PS4 will blow us away considering what they did on a PS3.

I hear you, I also would like new IP on next gen but there are two games I really don’t mind sequels to, Uncharted and Borderlands.

They just have to make sure they don’t fall into trap of everything seeming the same and not adding value like GOW Ascension, while not a terrible game was quite boring as there wasn’t much new to call home about.

Agreed, especially considering the lazy ending they used for 3.

It Does Start off going around the South African Coastline….. hmmm… Perhaps the treasure could be related to the Dutch East India company.

There’s vast untapped VOC history for an Uncharted game… they also had a window into Japan, perhaps that’s connected?

Oh I didn’t think of that. It’s -9. Which means there’s another 8 Uncharted games before they get back to the original. And 8/9 years is the average lifespan of the console generation, so we’ll be getting an Uncharted game every year like CODwork. Er.. clockwork.

For me UC3 was the best in the series and yet theirs allot of folks saying UC2 was better. I would love to C uncharted with a realistic feel like TLOU.

I have doubts about it being a prequel as Uncharted 3 already covered a lot of Nathan’s younger days/history.
I just hope I can play this on PS3 as well.

Owned a Xbox 360 from 2004 and only got a PS3 in 2010 and I will tell you Uncharted is the best game series that there have been since 2004!! In my opinion of course…. Even in 2010 when I got Uncharted 1 it played like a 2010 title without ever letting me down with the visual or the controls and that says a lot!! Oh and the story line of all 3 is brilliant!!

Figured it out, it is the story of William Kidd and one of his ships the Adventure Galley. Pirate hunter turned pirate rumored to have loads of buried treasure, ship was sunk on the coast of Madagascar and since we see South African location we might even see Nathan Drake visiting Brenda in Algoa Bay

I dont mind popular IPs coming to the next gen, but they shouldnt concentrate just on those. New Ip is what we really do need as well.

Well, it only took about 2 hours after the video was released, but the overwhelming response is, this may have to do with a possibly fictional anarchist colony founded in the late 17th century in Madagascar called Libertalia, by Captain James Misson, to be a Pirate haven. This would also be near the Cape of Good Hope, which is a ripe area for the Flying Dutchman to be involved.

    (From another website)

“In the teaser, where the x is marked at the end, is the island of Saint-Marie off the coast of Madagascar where a lot of pirates went after they got done pillaging ships. It also is where pirates like Oliver Levasseur, a Frenchman who lived in the same timeframe as Misson and Tew, went after they pillaged the largest bounty in the seas…the treasures belonging to the Bishop of Goa. I’d say we’re going to be trying to find the Flaming Cross of Goa, which is a treasure from the Bishop of Goa.”

“Legend tells that when he stood on the scaffold he had a necklace around his neck, containing a cryptogram of 17 lines, and threw this in the crowd while exclaiming: “Find my treasure, the one who may understand it!” What became of this necklace is unknown to this day. Many treasure hunters have since searched for his fabulous treasure. In 1923 the widow of a certain Charles Savy named Rose found some carvings in the rocks at Bel Ombre beach near Beau Vallon on the island of Mahé, due to the low water level that year. She found carvings of a dog, snake, turtle, horse, fly, two joined hearts, a keyhole, a staring eye, a ballot box, a figure of a young woman’s body, and the head of a man. A public notary in Victoria heard of this news, and understood those symbols must have been made by pirates. He searched in his archives, and found two possible connections. The first was a map of the Bel Ombre beach, published in Lissabon in 1735. It stated: “owner of the land… la Bus.”

Also mentioned in the video “Every betrayed us all”

“Henry Every with the help of Captain Tew and other ships captured the Mughal flag ship known as “the Ganj-i-Sawai” he is also said to have made off with the 600,000 pounds worth of plunder. Thus betraying Tew and the other pirates.”

Also mentioned “I lost 15 years”

Robert Drury (An English sailor) was shipwrecked on the island of Madagascar for 15 years.

The term Hodie Mecum Eris in Paradiso means “Today you will be with me in Paradise” a possible reference to the Garden of Eden

And “For God and Liberty” is a pirate motto.
