The Witcher 3: Blood and Wine is looking phenomenal in new screenshots

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is still mopping up awards at every show it can, cementing itself firmly as everyone’s favourite game of 2015 by a mile. Geralt’s journey might have come to a satisfying end, but there’re still more stories in and around his world that CD Projekt Red want to tell. That’s why they’re still churning out additional content for the hit RPG, with the bigger, more expansive Blood and Wine expansion looking just as incredible as we’ve come to expect.

There still might not be a release date, but CD Projekt Red have shared some gorgeous screenshots from the second of two expansion packs promised for the medieval RPG last year. Blood and Wine looks to be taking Geralt to much more colourful pastures, filled with prim and proper parties, fields of vibrant sunflowers and the odd three meter tall centipede (I think?) that’s just waiting to chomp his head right off.

Blood and Wine is expected to be a much bigger expansion that Heart of Stone last year, which itself was an engrossing, worthy add-on to The Witcher 3 that told a phenomenal story. As Geoff said in his review then, CD Projekt Red seem to be putting as much effort into these expansions as the main game itself.

It’s CD Projekt RED letting themselves have a bit of fun and letting Geralt have a bit of fun in the process – and I’d wager you’ll have fun with it too. If you’ve been looking for an excuse to return to the Northern Kingdoms, this is an excellent motivator, and one of the best bits of DLC in recent memory; certainly worth its asking price.

CD Projekt Red’s Marcin Momot has promised that a lot more information about the expansion will be coming next month, hopefully including a trailer and release date. After that, we have Cyberpunk 2077 to look forward to as the famed studio moves onto something new for the first time in a very long time.
