The Witcher 3 delayed…again.

Witcher3

The game that nabbed the title of the most anticipated game of 2015, has been delayed. Yes, The Witcher 3 has moved from its February release date, to somewhere ion the middle of May. In an open letter to gamers, CD Projekt RED confirmed the delay.

“Ever since we started working on The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, we knew it would be an ambitious game.” the open letter reads. “We wanted, and still aim, to give you an incredible experience, an epic adventure in a vast, completely open fantasy universe.”

“The sheer size and complexity of The Witcher, key features of the title, have had a decisive impact on production. Now, nearing the end of our work, we see many details that need to be corrected. When we release the most important game in our studio’s history, we must be absolutely sure that we did everything we could to limit any bugs to a level that will allow you to enjoy the game thoroughly.””

With this in mind, we took another look at current workloads and what they mean for the team. Even though everyone is working at full speed, we concluded that we need another 12 weeks, so we are shifting the release date of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt to May 19th, 2015.
We owe you an apology. We set the release date too hastily. It’s a hard lesson, one to take to heart for the future. We know what we want to do to make Wild Hunt one of the best RPGs you will ever play. And we continue to work hard to achieve just that. So, we apologize and ask for your trust.
Thank you for the all support you show us on a daily basis. We truly do appreciate it. It has fueled us in our passion since the start and will continue to do so.”

It’s not the game’s first delay. Originally scheduled for…right about now…the game was delayed to February 2015. It’ll now be coming along on May 19.

LOL! “DELAYED”, the new DAY ONE patch if you don’t want to fuck up all the “trust” you’ve built up with gamers who now trust you… and then charge $9.99 for a 20 year old space combat sim because SW fanboys will pay and if they don’t, nostalgic gamers will. I say this with a saddened heart but “FUCK YOU CD PROJECKT RED, you were our only hope.”

Me too actually. I was all Jamesoned up last night when I posted that and only realised this morning that I was being a complete troll. Anyway, they still need to drop the price of TIE Fighter asap. I want that game again but I am unwilling to pay more than its worth.

I understand, I was angry at first as well. But CD Projeckt Red is one decent company that produces good games in a solid environment. So I trust them, I’ll give them as much patience as they need.
With you talking about getting Tie fighter, a while ago this kind of situation got me thinking. Now I don’t have a huge backlog like most people. And while there are many games I would like to play, it’s not always possible due to a limit in the amount of time. Take Tie Fighter, great game. Great memories. Are they really worth going back to?

          Currently I have about 73 games on steam. This isn’t huge, but it’s also not small. Recently it grew by quite a lot. But there are other things to consider here as well;
          1. What’s the rated gameplay time per game?
          2. Is it multiplayer? (Bound to take up more time than most games)
          3. Is it something I have never played before?

So I asked myself these questions and started thinking about how I can decrease the size of my backlog. New schedules were formed for my hobby. And so far it’s helped me a lot! I’ve been catching up on my list.
Only changed one thing. In week days I don’t play any multiplayer games any more. If there is nothing for me to do, then I play only single player games.

Works great. I get to spend more time with my family. I get to enjoy some games with great story lines and I get to actually relax. And not get frustrated with multiplayer.

A very practical approach to game time management. I used to play a lot of multiplayer when I was younger but focus almost exclusively on SP now, far more relaxing.
I am a complete retro gaming nut so I do love replaying certain games.

Well then for you it would be completely different. Yeah I’m still reasonably young, but recently I realized that people around me are suffering i I play multiplayer games. So SP it is. Suddenly I’m more relaxed and my attention goes beyond the game.

Ok so this is what happened. The new Elder Blood trailer was released Saturday morning. Due to compression, there was a moment of blurriness to the start of every next scene in the trailer. And in the trailer there was one character, something was happening to him (could be part of the story / scene), he looked odd, textures maybe not loaded, snow textures on him some said. So just those two things created a shit storm on the forum and I mean a fucking shit storm. Downgrade was the in word. Comparison of the VGX and SOD trailers were constantly mentioned. No matter how much people tried to reassure that there was no downgrade. It just continued.

So over 160 pages of constant trolling in 2 days. The game was attacked. The developers were attacked. The company was attacked. The fans were attacked. Attacked with words. So now the game is delayed and all the trolls are rejoicing.

What happened in the last 2 days on the forum was just shocking to read. I can’t believe how people reacted. When I looked at the trailer, image to image, I saw the demo.

I truly believe that what happened on the forum over the last 2 days is why the game has been delayed. For some reason the trolls has unreasonable expectations of open world / sandbox type of game should look like.

Don’t support DRM. The Witcher 3 is not coming.

I really hate this whole “ZOMG downgrade!” mentality which people have these days, but in all honesty the visual fidelity in that trailer didn’t look up to par with what we’ve seen before, and it really didn’t look like a compression issue to me. But having said that, its still stupid for people to make such a big deal out of this shit.

If it gets released on time but has a day one patch you bitch.

If it gets delayed for a better polish you moan.

Stick to one damn thing people!

    No wonder gamersgate happened.

I for one have a massive backlog and can stand a few more weeks of not having the game.

While I grumbled a bit about seeing the word delay, but if you think about it, it would be better to get a game that is nearer to 100% than most of the games being released in this day and age. Not pointing fingers…… but….. AC Unity, Battlefield 4, Halo…… the list goes on…..

There is a very simple solution and this applies to ALL games.

Don’t fucking announce a release date you developer/publisher morons. Tell us about your game but don’t mention an ETA. Then when you have it nailed down enough, give us a release date. I don’t understand why game companies keep doing this – there is no need for a date at time of announcement.

You don’t see this in movie/music industries or most other industries. And no gaming isn’t the same but that is exactly why no release date should be mentioned due to its severe complexities.

    This isn’t rocket science people!

I’m still pondering at why the game was delayed. It came out of nowhere.

The whole reaction was to this guy: http://i.imgur.com/IKg9744.png. The trailer said he brings the icy cold with him, or something like that. So for that part of the game or scene, CD Projekt RED turned him into an ice cube. This is how the others looked like: http://i.imgur.com/GTkBErI.png. People went drowngrade nuts. Then the game got delayed. Now that character needs to be changed and bug checked.

And then I also have to put my tin foil hat on. Xbox One version vs the PC version. Microsoft won’t like that. How much are they willing to pay or demand to have the PC version looking more like the Xbox One version. I’m sure Microsoft is pissed at not getting the word exclusive out of any part of the game. So the delay might come at a cost.
