The internet is buzzing about The Witcher 3, especially after so many media outlets got their hands on the game for the first time. CD Project RED has us waiting until May for release, rounding up their Witcher trilogy before they move onto something new. But could they ever return to the previous two titles and spruce them up for newer consoles?
Well, there’s nothing stopping them, but that doesn’t seem to be something CD Project RED are keen on doing. Speaking to Shack News at the hands-on event recently, CD Projekt RED senior environment artist, Jonas Mattsson, didn’t rule out the possibility of Witcher remasters in the future, but explained that it wasn’t something he believed the studio was excited about.
“I can’t answer for what the top bosses are thinking, but I believe the answer is no. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is a standalone game. There’s no need to play the previous titles. So a new fanbase would not miss out much. Of course, it would be great if they played Wild Hunt and went back and played the previous two games.”
CD Project RED has clearly expressed their excitement to get going with Cyberpunk 2077 again as soon as The Witcher 3 is wrapped up, so I also doubt their drive to whack out two remastered editions before then. Sure, The Witcher and Witcher 2 aren’t exactly that accessible on anything other than PC, so I’m sure fans would throw money at such a project. But the studio is smaller than most AAA outlets nowadays; I simply don’t think CD Project RED would risk less work on their new IP for a re-release.
That said, I’d totally pick up a proper remastered edition of the very first Witcher game if it crawled out of a hole somewhere.

I literally got locked up.
But she suffered more than I did. Dropped out of school. Left her modeling behind etc.
I worked my ass off and things started looking up. And then the twins came lol.
But everything appears to be coming right. She’s studying, I have a good job where I’ve already doubled my salary in the 3yrs I’ve been there, kids are all healthy, we just moved into a bigger house this month etc. So I’m looking forward to the next few years

What worked for me was the fact that I stopped worrying about it.
It gets to you a bit, you’re young and want to party etc. but now you’re caught in this “mess”, while everyone around you is partying and spending their cash on GTI’s or ST’s and stuff like that and here you are barely scraping by, worrying about doctor bills and crap. But now those same people look up to you, ask you for advise and shit, cause you’ve been there, done that. It’s different. My friends always joked that I the example they should learn from, and it’s true, but I promise you I have a much better life than most of them do.

I don’t know perhaps its a marketing ploy.. get everyone riled up and then once Witcher 3 has been released and the hype eventually dies down they release an all in one trilogy remastered with extra content. That’s just the conspiracy theorist in me. I would buy it though 😛

The biggest disappointment in this series was The Witcher: Rise of The White Wolf never seeing life. So many, the bulk of people I know who enjoy the series have never played the first game because it was PC exclusive.
I don’t care so much about the second game, but I think the first game being ported to consoles with a similar battle system to the latest 2 and maybe just an HD texture would of been cool.
But eh no skin off my back, play the series on PC and there and wonderful mod’s for the visuals =p

I’ve never played a Witcher game. The Witcher 3 looks awesome, but i want to play from the first game. So i’m hoping they release a trilogy pack for PC, as a hard copy. I do love collecting the discs for the games I play.

They’re really great. You won’t be disappointed. Do yourself a favour and get the comic books (there are only a few) but it will get you into the story and the whole feel of The Witcher.

They won’t…. CD Projekt is putting a lot of stake in their sister company GOG.com (And Actively speak out against Publishers putting DRM on physical Copies.)
You can Still find Witcher 2 in retail (Enhanced Edition) The first one will be trickier.
