WOW CASH GOLD MONIES OMG

One genre I’ve always steered clear of is the MMORPG. There are monthly subscriptions for starters (goodbye money), and I know that there is the risk of getting addicted forever (goodbye life). I’ll stick to my perfectly healthy MOBA addiction – with it’s pretty, costly cosmetics, thank you very much! If you however, are a gamer who loves MMOs, World of Warcraft in particular, and continue to wonder the lands of Azeroth, you’ll be happy to know that Blizzard are launching the WoW Token in certain regions today.

What is the WoW Token exactly? Here’s Blizzard’s official description:

The WoW Token is a new in-game item that allows players to simply and securely exchange gold and game time between each other.

Players will be able to purchase a WoW Token through the in-game Shop for real money, and then sell it on the Auction House for gold at the current market price. When a player buys a WoW Token from the Auction House for gold, the Token becomes Soulbound, and the player can then redeem it for 30 days of game time.

How can it benefit you? It’s pretty self explanatory. If you’re the kind of person who spends all your time working, making lots of real-life moola, chances are you don’t have nearly the same amount of time to farm up gold as others do. If that’s the case, you can spend real money on a token, exchanging it for in-game gold.

Alternately, if you’re the WoW gamer who spends most of the time in-game, farming up lots of gold, you can now save yourself the fee of your monthly subscription by purchasing a WoW Token with your amassed in-game riches.

The WoW Token will be available in certain regions starting today (North America, Latin America, Australia, and New Zealand), costing a cool 30 000 gold. This price will change based on supply and demand. Blizzard have not shared details on when the other regions will be gaining access to the token, but I can’t imagine it being too far off.

What do you think? Will you be purchasing or selling WoW Tokens? Does it’s addition to the game annoy you or make you happy? Leave your comments below.

Tokens are a great idea by Blizzard. Hear me out.

There’s two things that WoW’s been plagued by since its launch that have had no easy remedy, being gold sellers and inflation. Gold sellers have been a thorn in Blizzard’s sides since there’s been no easy way to get rid of them other than Blizzard selling gold themselves (which they said they would not do). They needed to find a way to starve them out without selling gold themselves, and thus the coin was born.

The coin solves both problems of economy inflation and gold sellers with one sweeping motion. By buying the coin, you’re effectively buying 25000 gold (I think that’s the going rate), because you can sell them on the auction house. Got a lot of real money but not much money in WoW and no time to farm? Pick up a few coins and sell them to other players. Boom, instant cash.

This also provides a gold sink to players with a ton of gold in the game and also helps reduce inflation at the same time. Heck, players with a ton of in-game gold can theoretically play the game for free if they can just bring in 25k gold every month to pay for a token. It’s a good tradeoff, and everybody benefits from it’s introduction, especially Blizzard.

Starting rate is 30k, but that will go up or down depending on supply and demand 🙂 yeah I think it’s great that Blizzard have finally introduced something like this.

Why do I have an ABBA song stuck in my head now, I think it goes “Money money money, it’s so funny….”

I’ve never had the slightest of interest in playing WoW, even though I had many friends, who now, I believe, are still stuck in the game, or dead, because I haven’t heard from them in years, simply because it costs money to play… Stupid really, I can’t see myself throwing money at my PC screen….

I know we complain about games not being long enough, but this is quit your job, stay in your moms basement, and play this game for say 2 years, and you will reach level 10!
Sorry like to look at that genre of games from far, it r pretty, and that’s about it from me.

the token system will get me back into WoW.

I have about 100’000 in gold sitting in my WoW account, just sitting there doing nothing. I am not a hardcore player either but I’ve got some friends who are and I’ve been wanting to play with them and do some raids but not prepared to pay for game time when I wont be playing every day.

So if I can buy a token for 30 days of time, then hell yeah. I’ve got enough for 3 months worth saved up and I will earn enough for another token then too. So good on Blizzard, still need to buy drenor though…. =p
