There are Just Too Many Games, Says BioWare’s Ray Muzyka

Do you have a terrible backlog of games you just can’t find the time to play? I know I do; and while some of the reasons for the increased pile of shame are a result of me just being older and burdened with more adult responsibility, another factor is the fact that there’s just too many damned games that I absolutely have to play.

Bioware Cofounder and general manager Ray Muzyka agrees. citing his biggest disappointment with the industry – “There are too many games released today,” he said, speaking to Develop.

“It’s interesting, because it’s very, very busy – it makes it very hard as a player to keep up. The releases clump up – even though that is changing a little bit.”

Muzyka says although he manages to play games for around two to three hours per night, it’s just not enough time to keep current. Two to three hours a night? I wish!

“For us, we have to play our games, play competitor’s games, play other relevant games and play the handful of games we just really want to play more of and finish. I try and play two-or three hours a night, but that’s hard and it’s not enough.” That doesn’t even take the financial aspect of it in to account. Who can afford to buy all of the triple-AAA new releases each week?
