These are the most played PC games

PC gamers are tricky to track. Steam helps and gives some cool stats, but not all games are played through Steam. Raptr offers gamers the opportunity to track trophies and other achievements on PC, and gives some insight into what people are playing.

Here are the details from Raptr:

Most played june 2014

As you can see, MOBAs reign supreme, grabbing the top two spots with World of Warcraft coming in 3rd. Most interestingly, WildStar has had an impressive launch, already coming in at the 6th spot – above Minecraft and World of Tanks. Similarly, I’m intrigued by the rise of Battlefield 3. It is most likely because it was free on the Origin store, but it’s still funny to see it within two spots of Battlefield 4. I wonder if, like COD: Ghosts, the older game will overtake the supposedly new-and-improved version.

The Elder Scrolls Online is rapidly dropping, moving down 12 spots on the list. I wonder if it will even survive another month – reviews have panned the game and according to these stats, people are already returning to just playing Skyrim.

I find it intriguing to see the longevity of some games compared to others. Many of these games have been out for years, but they continue to be popular compared to newer games that are already moving down (or falling off) the list. Dark Souls II has fallen off the list, although I’m surprised it was there to begin with considering that it was broken on PC at launch. Watch Dogs is in the top ten for now, but I wonder how long it will be before people get tired of it and return to Mincraft or other standard PC gaming fare. At least we can already see that WildStar is being TESO in the MMO war; I wonder if it will usurp WoW’s spot in the coming months.

PC gamers always complaining that games don’t come to their platform…Well now you know why…Ya’ll obsessed with a video game that was born from a Warcraft 3 mod 😛

Who says that we *have* to all play the latest over-marketed and over-hyped titles. What if I enjoy the games that I play because I simply enjoy them?

Nothing against it AT ALL. Obviously you can play whatever you want. Just stating. If you look at that chart, I don’t find it all that weird that PC most of the time gets stuck with the shitty ports. Seems most PC gamers are more focused on the MOBAs and online space so companies porting over their console games hardly get the attention they deserve because the player base aint that big.

            July 14, 2014 at 12:41

Skyrim on my xbox had bugs that I couldn’t patch. And no mods. When I bought the PC version – no problems after patches, and mods for days. Sorry, but console doesn’t really compare.

            July 14, 2014 at 12:45

There are some instances where PC is better I will grant that. But I do feel that consoles get more “polished” games in general

PS: I’m a PC fanboi so I’m not trying to say console is better. Just giving credit where it’s due

          • ToshZA

            July 14, 2014 at 12:47

Well, perhaps, and perhaps not. It can go either way. I will say that making for console is easier because you don’t need to worry about scaling. There’s your hardware, shit as it is, so you know what you can and can’t do.

            There’s always a trade-off it seems.

I reckon the rise in BF3 is due in large to the fact that BF4 is still so bug riddled. Brand loyalty is important and when they guys can’t play BF4 for whatever bug reason they will fall back on to something they know and trust. In this case BF3.

if thats 8% of the PC gaming population that use DRM, and some stats say 40% of gamers still dont have internet / dont use DRM, then we’re talking about near as dammit, 150 000 000 people.

with the international happening atm for Dota, we’re looking at atleast 500 000 users online at any given time during peak hours, not counting twitch viewers.
