This is not Broforce…this is Not A Hero

I was stalking the Broforce twitter feed this morning, you know as you do, and I saw a RT for a brand new game that released yesterday for the PC for $12.99 and which looks pretty awesome.

Not A Hero looks pretty simplistic and awesome as you can see from this video. It’s also still coming to the PS4 and PSVita (The perfect platform for this game).

But… is it just me or does it look – aesthetically at least – very similar to Broforce itself, just this time it’s a parody on English culture instead of American? The graphics are also pretty comparable and the game is being released by Devolver, the same publisher behind BroForce.

Here is the official blurb of the game and you can read all about it here:

Professional assassin turned amateur campaign manager Steve is charged with cleaning up the city by an anthropomorphic rabbit and mayoral candidate from the future named BunnyLord.

Now Steve and his expanding roster of dubious heroes must wield their unique skills to shoot, slide, dive and take cover behind a political platform built on ethics, accountability, and an inordinate amount of gunfire.

Eliminate the criminal underworld of the city’s three major districts and persuade undecided voters to your cause, tackling the issues that matter by putting a gun in the mouth of those issues.

Through the power of ISO-Slant™ technology and a wasted youth, London-based developer Roll7 (OlliOlli) delivers the greatest 2¼D cover-based indie shooter of all-time, ever.

It;s like a retro Gears of War, blended with Elevator Action and a bit of Hotline Miami. It seems, superficially, to be quite similar to Broforce, but has actually been released instead of staying in early access. Has Broforce been pipped to the post?

I like the cover system (almost like Blackthorne) and the gameplay looks like fun. I think Jim remarked it’s like a Hot Line Miami clone but from the side and much more forgiving.

Thank God I’m not hypersensitive to flashing lights….. I would have instantly died of a seizure.
