This new trailer for Dark Souls 2 will leave you cursed

I’ve got friends who can’t wait to get their Dark Souls 2 action on in that punishing game. These friends might also wear full body rubber suits, eyeless masks and speak in “Mmmrrphhh mmmpphhh mmmm” language due to the fact that they’re wearing ball gags.

None of that really matters though, because the trailer above is just pure thrill-power for Dark Souls 2. Plus demon horses scare the pants off of me. Despite the fact that most folks, this chap included, focus on the difficulty of Dark Souls being ludicrously high and punishing for those of us who didn’t learn our boss patterns, it’s the kind of game that still has a solid combat structure.

And as for those complaints and worries about Dark Souls 2 being “for teh noobz”, I can assure you hardcore fans that you’ve got nothing to worry about. As the developers still told me at E3, the game is being designed to be less of a grind, and more fluid. “Oh, you’ll still die a lot”, the dev said to me when I quizzed him on this.

“In fact, if you don’t die right now with this demo, then I’m going to have to go back to the drawing board,” he said to me. And then he grinned that bastard grin as I was torn apart by a mirror knight. Touche Namco Bandai, touche.

Dark Souls 2 is out soon. Very soon actually, as it arrives in the middle of March for PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. There’s a very cool collector’s edition on the way, but chances are high that this has been sold out by now. For no one can defeat the “You snooze you lose” boss of the pre-order kingdom.

This is kinda what I did, see you can only level up so much. So what I did near the end of DS is just run from the bonfire to the boss. Avoid all the enemies best you can. It’s a time saver.

BEYOND hype for this game. Probably gonna suck months from my life just like the first one did. My only concern is not about the gameplay really. It’s they are going to make the story more direct. The beauty about DS was that sense of wonder and exploration. Finding out about the people and world around you. You could actually let your imagination dictate the story

Controller. Like I did. Got a cheapo PS2 controller and then a program that catches the controller requests and maps it like it is meant to be on an actual console. Suddenly the game is far better.

Your level is pretty much half of how you measure your survivability only.
The rest is your equipment level. Dont underestimate the importance of upgrading your armour and weapons. Quite a lot of the time it is more useful to upgrade equipment than to upgrade stats, of course that theory is situational.

doesnt matter if you are melee character, anyone can equip a bow.
you time it with the swinging of the tail, shoot a few test arrows to get used to how long they take to get there, then find the sweet spot and just time your releases, if you have about 100 arrows even with missing a bunch you should be fine

Ok cool choice for first time, you will be very thankful as a large amount of the bosses are weak to fire.
If you want a bonus advantage for the first section of the game, then get the drake sword, will give you a bit of an op weapon until you get to sens fortress.
