Good ol’ Obi-Wan Kenobi. The man was a hero of his time, a general in the brutal Clone Wars and the kind of Jedi you’d look up to in the darkest of times. Especially when said times involved leaving your freshly-amputated protégé to burn to death after a spectacular lightsaber battle. Yeesh, talk about going bat-Sith crazy. Made famous by the late Sir Alec Guinness, Obi-Wan Kenobi has always been an integral part of Star Wars. And now it’s time for the old man to finally get an eerily realistic figure based on his first appearance in Star Wars: A New Hope.
Standing at the usual Hot Toys height of around 30cm, Obi-Wan Kenobi packs his trademark lightsaber, robes and an elegant amount of distinguished facial hair. Just look at that sculpt! As for the rest of the important details, here’s the official list from Sideshow Collectibles:
- Authentic and detailed likeness of Sir Alec Guinness as Obi-Wan Kenobi in Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope
- Movie-accurate facial expression with detailed wrinkles, beard, and skin texture
- Body with over 30 points of articulation
- Approximately 30 cm tall
- Six (6) pieces of newly sculpted interchangeable palms including:
– One (1) pair of relaxed palms
– One (1) pair of palms for holding lightsaber
– One (1) right palm for holding lightsaber in alternative pose
– One (1) gesturing left palm - Each piece of head sculpt is specially hand-painted
Costume:
- One (1) brown-colored under-tunic
- One (1) beige-colored tunic
- One (1) brown-colored Jedi robe
- One (1) brown-colored belt
- One (1) pair of beige-colored pants
- One (1) pair of brown leather-like boots
Weapons:
- One (1) LED-lighted blue lightsaber (white light, battery operated)
- One (1) lightsaber hilt
Accessory:
- Specially designed figure stand with Obi-Wan Kenobi nameplate and movie logo
Obi-Wan will retail for around $219.99 when he arrives in the December 2015 to February 2016 period. If you practice really hard however, you might be able to Jedi mind trick one of these figures into your hands. Trust me, I’m trying right now, but I keep tricking myself into falling asleep.

I am, as I am sure most here know, a major star wars fan. But I cannot see the need to get something like this. A figurine? If replica of millenium falcon or something yes. But a character? Not so convinced. EVEN if Darth Vader – disclaimer, house keys on Darth Vader lego keyring

Agreed. I would rather drop this amount of money on a proper Jedi costume and lightsaber prop (yes I know my inner nerd is showing). But seriously, I would love to cosplay as a Jedi.

You are not alone in this school of thought chum.

While that is a great idea, I’d prefer a REAL lightsaber. You know, for SCIENCE, and for “helping” people out in queues and traffic and parliament…

I’m just going to add this to the loooooong list of reasons I need to win the lottery. As Brady says, a Falcon replica would have me going off like a Japanese school-girl at a boy band concert, but I have to say the last few figures I’ve seen – this & Vader – have been really impressive.

How rad would it be to have both Kenobi and Vader, huh?

Scotty’s going to give himself serious radiation burns holding a Dilithium crystal so close to his face.
