Titanfall minimum PC requirements are a hefty mechnomination

Titanglug

There’s a lot riding on Titanfall right now. This is the one game that Microsoft needs to break out and be not only a hit on that console, but a signature title as well, something that’ll make it worth owning on all the Microsoft platforms. Besides the Xbox family, it’ll be available on PC as well. And by PC, I mean functional Borg cubes.

Respawn Entertainment co-founder Zince Zampella tweeted out the minimum system requirements for Titanfall on PC, and you’ll need quite a big rig in order to run the game:

  • 64-bit Windows 7, 8, 8.1
  • AMD Athlon X2 2.8GHz or Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4GHz
  • 4GB RAM
  • 512MB VRAM, Radeon HD 4770 or GeForce 8800GT

That’s a whole lot of hardware, although judging by previous comments on the site, most of you will be shouting me down because you already have gaming PCs that can easily match these specs. Please don’t hurt me, I have so much to live for and I just learnt that DDR 3 RAM isn’t a spin-off of Dance Dance Revolution 3.

PC will naturally carry the best visuals when Titanfall launches, as the Xbox One version will be launching with 720P visuals. Still, it’s the gameplay that makes a game great, and if Geoff and Gavin would just shut up about having had time to sit down and play Titanfall, I could feel it out for myself when I nab the Xbox 360 version.

Titanfall drops in from orbit March 14. And if you’re buying the oversized collector’s edition, then you’ll be happy to know that you can fit a body inside of it.

Got my 360 about 2 years ago (judging by my tenure on XBL)… so my PC’s around 4-5 years old.

Surprising how much I can still play on the old girl tho… The Witcher 2 however, doesn’t run on low graphics… can’t get past that damned dragon right at the beginning of the game… got past it on the 360 though.

Did you notice any significant difference between 8 gigs and 16?

I wouldn’t think that it would make any difference with games, especially as the majority of games are probably still supporting 32 bit architectures.

the 360 version uses the same codebase, but different assets and a different dev; it’s not really comparable. According to Vince, these are the min specs for the Pc version.

          • Brian Murphy

            February 5, 2014 at 08:10

The 360 still has less to work with ;P So, technically, it can run with less. And before you say it, PC’s back then had between 2-8g of RAM, on TOP of the 512m on the card.

The reason it uses the old engine is so that it can sell on the 360 because they know that there are still a huge 360 market that can be tapped compared to the XOne market.

How can you say that these are high specs when they are not? Really? Is this the quality of content you feel satisfied to produce?

wow, low specs. The 8800GT as well as the Core 2 Duo are practically archaic in the pc world. Anyone who bought a pc in the last 4 – 5 years will run this game.

Hah, wanna be amused, try price out a PC with the above specs.

AMD Athlon X2 – Out of stock at Newegg ($58.99)
Intel Core 2 Duo – Out of stock at Newegg (~130-150ish)
    4g DDR3 – ~40-50 bucks
8800GT – Out of Stock (Found one on ebay for $27.49)

Just a quick note, the out of stock basically means they’re no longer carrying them/out of production. I think it’s fairly safe to say that every pre-built PC bought within the past 5 years exceeds these specs. Anything in the past 2 years could probably run two instances of Titanfall on their PC at medium to high settings.
