We’ve been saying for a while that Titanfall was a reason to get the Xbox One. It looks incredible, and when the guys got their hands on it at Gamescom they were blown away. Now, it’s confirmed that it is indeed a Microsoft exclusive. You won’t be playing it on your PS4; not now, not next year, not ever.
There were rumors that Titanfall would be a timed exclusive – how could a game this big not eventually come to Sony’s platform? Well, quite simply, it won’t. EA’s CFO, Black Jorgensen, stated during their second quarter financial earnings call that Titanfall will be exclusive to Microsoft platforms and PC “for the life of the title”. This was again confirmed via twitter by Larry Hryb, aka Major Nelson:

I’m sure there are a lot of disappointed people out there – exclusives are always frustrating. Now all the PlayStation fans who loved The Last of Us can feel the PC and Xbox gamer’s pain. In all seriousness, I think it highlight’s the ‘special’ relationship between EA and Microsoft. I can tell you now, this game will ship units of the Xbox One. People will want to play this game, and will get what they need to make it happen. However, if the franchise becomes as big as everyone is hoping/assuming, I’m not sure that Microsoft and EA will be able to cover the costs of keeping Respawn from making it multi-platform in future iterations of the game.
Still, I’m surprised that Zampella wasn’t aware of this from the start. Did someone not read their agreements properly, or was he just screwed over by EA? Not that he can really complain – EA and Microsoft have done a ton to promote Titanfall and ensure its success. Never wise to bite the hand that feeds you.

I have watched videos etc and I just don’t feel it at all. Another kill everything game with a few new mechanics maybe, but in general all these are just the same game to me…
I am waiting for Diablo3 Exp, GTA5 PC and some indies games and then Star Citizen. Will comfortably give this one a skip. Oh the wonders of choice and the great selection o/ It’s good to be a gamer!

Remember when the x360 and PS3 launched, most of us had 512kb connections, now we’ve got 10Mb connections, while 2mb is the lowest you can get. 49 Gb in the next 5 years is definitely going to be doable – provided Telkom/Seacom etc keep chugging forward like a broken little steam train.
Sure we’re lagging behind in the world, but we’ll get to 25Mb/s connections… It’ll happen in our lifetimes… HAHAHAHAHHA!

But eventually, we’ll catch up and do 45gigs over an evening and then moan about 120 gig downloads for the PS5 and Samsung Infinity (yeah I’m calling it, MS won’t make it past this coming gen, their shareholders have been grumbling and the games division just hasn’t been doing so well – hopefully Samsung will save the day, and bring some much needed new blood into the gaming arena)

This does look great… But it’s multiplayer only. I dunno how I feel about that. I’ve only recently (just over 1 month ago) got ADSL and begun playing multiplayer online. GTA Online is a ton of fun – with friends (sorry – with homies! 🙂 )! And I am SOOOOOO looking forward to Destiny (which has an overarching storyline).
But Titanfall… I love my games for their story – for the immersion that offers. Titanfall seems like a “I have a robot, you have a robot… Let’s kill eachother with them” kinda game.
Hell, I may be wrong – I may end up loving it once I’ve tried it. But I will definitely be trying it out before I even consider buying…

If online connectivity were terminated tomorrow and no-one could play multiplayer ever again… And we’d only be able to play single player… I would mourn the loss of GTA Online… But I’d be ok with that. 🙂

I’m a bit confused by “the life of the title”. When does a title’s life end? Why not just say: “Titanfall will be exclusive to Microsoft platforms and PC”? The way I’m interpreting this is that the moment “the life of the title” has passed, so does the exclusivity. Almost like what happened with Mass Effect. Yes, it was exclusive to the Xbox 360, but the moment its “life ended”, it was ported to PC and PS3. Not saying it will happen, I’m simply stating that they’ve got themselves covered for a PS4 release as well.

It means, it’ll be exclusive for about 6 – 12 months and then EA will release the PS4 version. EA being EA!

Judging by the sluggish preorders, it’s going to have to pull up its socks and regulate in the crotch area. Fortunately, there’s still a decent amount of time till it launches so who knows, it might just beat Battlefield 4.

To pay that much money just to get a Xbox One to play one game does not make financial sense, especially if you have a pc that can play it. I know that it will increase the xbox one sales but I will not buy one. I wanted a PS4 but the price tag is scarry. So I will wait a year to see what happens then I will decide.

I don’t care for this game at all. If I change my mind I will just get it for my xbox360. Zoe, why do you think this game will ship units of XboxOne, when it’s also available on the much cheaper xbox360?
I am sure at some point I will pick up the XboxOne, just not for a year or two.

because the game looks awesome on Xbox One, and will look pretty crappy on current gen. Once you see how it should look, it’s hard to play it the other way.

Massive mistake by respawn…….the amount of money they are loosing out on here is massive.
But, as has been said before, Mass Effect was also supposed to be a lifetime exclusive.

There is no such thing as an exclusive on the Crapbox. Myself and all other PS owners will play this game on PC if we want. Sad thing is the Xbox zealots wont be playing any of my exclusives from the PS. But the suckers still think Xbox is better. Lol suckers.
