Just when you though that we’d seen the last of the Tony Hawk franchise, after the abysmal sales of 2010s Tony Hawk: Shred, it looks like Activision has scrambled the necromancers to resurrect the once-great franchise for yet another round of boring grinds and ollies.

The actual Tony Hawk took to Twitter this week to tease an announcement for a new game that he’ll be announcing at the Spike Video Game Awards later this week.

While Activision confirmed that 2011 would a Hawkless year, tossing the franchise into the same Spartan pit as Guitar Hero and the other music games.

Hawk also hinted earlier this year in April that some new iteration of the skateboarding franchise was in the works, so if he is announcing anything, chances are good that this is it.

Personally, EA and the Skate franchise have perfected skateboarding games for me, and I don’t think half-pipe fans can handle yet another dull game with the face of Hawk plastered all over it.
