Tony Hawk Pro Skater 5 has finally been revealed

THPS5 (2)

Revenge of the fifth? More like Revenge of the…sequel…ith…IT’S EARLY DAMMIT! Disney Infinity 3.0 finally gave up the goods and revealed itself to the world earlier. But it’s not the only new game in town. An older franchise is heading back. A franchise that was responsible for you wearing goofy baggy pants as a kid and listening to…hrrrnnngghhh…Limp Bizkit. probably. Yep, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5 is pulling a 1080 resurrection with a half-pipe twist.

So long and thanks for all the tweets Activision and Tony Hawk1 Game Informer broke the news, revealing that Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5 will see the franchise attempt to its more glorious roots, from when the franchise reached its zenith at Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 and sort of stalled at the fourth instalment.

It’s on track for a 2015 release, and it’ll be hitting PlayStation and Xbox across both current and last-gen. This year sees the franchise handed over to Disruptive Games, seeing as how original THPS developer Neversoft is kind of, well…dead. According to GameInformer, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5 “features a new set of levels packed with objectives and missions you can complete solo or with friends via online co-op and competitive play,”, and it “weds the series’ finely tuned gameplay with new additions such as power-ups and the ability to shoot projectiles for specific missions”.

THPS5 (1)

Wait, what? Shoot projectiles? Well alright then. If THPS5 is anything like the HD remaster of the first two games from a few years ago, then I’m going to be happy. Damn happy in fact. Now throw in some Papa Roach and various other punk-era bands for a killer soundtrack, and I’ll be happy to play the game, get delusions of grandeur, hop on a skateboard and go skin most of flesh off in a horrific accident on the freeway.

Maybe not even in that order.

I like Coldplay, the two songs I know. But I don’t think coldplay works with THPS. It music needs to be quick, loud, and with singers that are mad at their dads!

            Indeed, angry music works better

you would defile THPS with coldplay?
are you planning on talking to a halfpipe about your feelings?

oo gits. Klink vir my dat Activision redelik desperaat word as hulle ghitaar held en Tony Hawk se profesioneele skaatser laat herleef.

Not even sure I spelled it right. I only use Afrikaans when I visit my family since all my friends are English or choose to speak English to me. (I know, weird)

I’m not sure what they called it, maar dit raak nogals interessant as ‘n Engelse persoon met ‘n Afrikaner praat en hulle spring die heeltyd tussen mekaar se tale.

A friend and I were actually speaking about this the other day. I really hope they evolve the trick system alittle from the older TH games. No ‘Press X for kickflip’. Skate 3 had the perfect tricks system with giving you control of how the board is kicked/flipped. I hope they do something similar, because after playing Skate 3, I couldn’t go back to the old Tony Hawk style.
