Uh oh. The highly anticipated (co-op enabled) sequel to Torchlight isn’t going to be in your hands quite as soon as you thought.

As most of you already know, the first Torchlight will be releasing on Xbox Live Arcade on March 9, and it’s due to the work required on the console port that the sequel has had to suffer a minor delay.

It’s not all bad though, as Runic CEO Max Schaefer reckons that the extra time has led to some great improvements.

According to Schaefer “It’s going great, however. We’ve actually got some optimisations and technical improvements that went into making the Xbox version that we’ve been able to go back and implement into Torchlight II for PC.” also adding that “We’ve got load times down, we’ve got some animation stuff that’s a little bit better, and it’s feeling really good right now.” finally saying that “Torchlight II is playing really snappy and really sharp, so I’m very excited about that.”

So when will we be getting our hands on Torchlight II for PC then? Schaefer says that I’d say that the Xbox project, having to do the extra work with the interface, has pushed us back a little bit, so we’re probably talking July right now for Torchlight II,”

So there you have it folks, the definite, final, for-sure release date for Torchlight II is err, around about somewhere in July-ish, near the end… or beginning… or so.
