After sinking tons of time into Don’t Starve, I haven’t returned to it in a while. I know the new expansion is really cool, but I just haven’t had a chance to fall down that rabbit hole again. Now, I’m ready to jump back in, and throw other people down the hole, too.
Don’t Starve Together is the multiplayer/co-op update for Don’t Starve. It’s still in Beta, but it is grabbing its first update and looks like an absolute troll game:

So you can choose how you want to play the game. Personally, I think I’m too much of a pacifist to troll people in Don’t Starve. The game is already so hard, with so many things trying to kill you. There are even boulders that come from the moon in this new update. I’m much more likely to try to work together with my co-op buddies, dividing up the work of exploration, gathering and survival. I like the idea of being the one to go out foraging and exploring while someone else stays at our camp, building walls, cooking meals, creating new technologies and just generally making life back at home much easier. Wait, I think I want a wife in Don’t Starve…
Have you played Don’t Starve in its original form? Are you keen to give co-op a try, or did dying too easily put you off? At least with co-op, you can haunt your friends – what could be better than that?

Heck yeah! Such an awesome game! very addictive though 😛 I can just imagine the coop exchanges of someone to trying to get a friend into the game:
B : “You got that honey by destroying beehives right?”
A : “Yes, but you need to-”
B : “GAH! THE BEES ARE ATTACKING ME!!”
A : “GET AWAY!! GET AWAY NOW!! IF THEY KI-”
B : “I’m dead”
A : “…”
or
A : “Dude, what happened to all our grass? I picked a crap ton of the stuff yesterday?!”
B : “Oh yeah, I made some rope”
A : “Rope? Rope?? You made 60 grass worth of rope?!?”
B : “Uhm, yeah you said we had to build some drying racks for biltong, and those need rope”
A : “We can make biltong anytime! But we’ve only got 5 days tops till winter comes. If we don’t have like 6 crops of dragon fruit by then we’re totally screwed!”
B : “What do we need for a farm?”
A : “10 grass, 6 manure and 4 stone, and we need to build at least 8, so we need 80 grass. Ergo, you will have to go and pick 60 grass at least after all that rope you made. You’ll have to go to that desert patch with the beefalo though, because the grass won’t have grown back at the desert east of our base where I was yesterday. And since you’re going to spend the night there, you might as well get some more beefalo wool for warm clothes.”
B : “Uhm ok. With the razor right?”
A : “Yes, with a razor when they sleep. And for the love of god check whether it’s mating season this time!”
B : “Yeah I know, that little red patch on their butts right? You can still shave them when they sleep though?”
B : “Yes, should be fine. By the way, while you’re there, pick up any stray manure you find. We have enough to build the farms, but we will need some more eventually to re-fertilize the farms. Let’s see, at the moment we’ve got … SONOFABITCH! WHERE’S THE MANURE??”
B : “I had to burn some of it two nights ago. Remember, you spent the night in the swamp but I made it back to the base before it got dar–”
A : “You burned the manure?!?”
B : “Only some of it, I didn’t have any logs or twigs, and there were these black hand things that came out of the night and it started to steal my fire.”
A : “I told you to only step on those hands to make them go away! Why was your sanity so low?”
B : “I’m not sure, I’ve not taken off that flower hat you gave me, and I’ve been eating all the flowers I can find today.”
A : “Today? but we were hunting spiders in that dark forest. Where did you find flowers?”
B : “There was this tree with a face on it and-”
A : “Those are evil flowers! You’re not supposed to eat them! Goddammit, here, take this honey”
B : “Ooh thanks!”
A : “This is not charity mate, you’re going to spend the next two nights in that desert picking grass and scraping up manure.”
B : “Two nights?”
A : “We’ve been cursed with very few beefalo on this world, so the drop rate is very bad.”
B : “Where are you off to?”
A : “I saw the start of a graveyard up north beyond the beehives. We need a birdcage for the farms, and we used up all of our gold when we built the alchemy machine, and graveyards usually have some gold lying around”
etc…
And now I have the munchies – thank frank for 24 hour fuel stops. I’m going to buy some cheese curls.

Awesome game but pains me when I die because of something stupid or not dodging a spider attack 🙁 Would dig to play co-op but don’t have cash for it right now. Will def help with everything, wasting time on a hard game like this seems pointless..

Played an unhealthy amount of Don’t Starve and then went further down the rabbit hole with Reign of Giants… The time I could sink into Don’t Starve Together…wow. The caves, guys. I only found out there are TWO levels of caves to explore :-O
