Ubisoft: five major titles for FY15 release

Financial years always confuse me, just like school years do in the northern hemisphere. We already have a perfectly serviceable calendar from January – December, why do we have to have years that run from April 2014 to March 2015? Oh well, whatever “year” you want to call it, Ubisoft has said they’re bringing out five major titles in that time period.

Ubisoft has announced that they will be releasing five major titles in financial year 2015 (April 2014 – March 2015), of which The Crew, Watch Dogs and a new Just Dance are confirmed. Okay, so that leaves two major titles. Presumably, one of those titles will be a nice Assassin’s Creed game – Black Flag shipped 10 million units, so it should be safe to assume that they’ll want to carry on cashing in on the Assassin’s Creed franchise.

What about The Division? That game has me seriously excited – I simply adore the premise – but we didn’t get confirmation that it’s coming in FY15. Does this mean that the game is delayed past March 2015, or that Ubisoft simply didn’t want to box themselves in with a set launch window?

Then there is still Far Cry 4. Rumored to be in development at Ubisoft Montreal, could the latest Far Cry be the fifth title for the year?

One thing I can pretty much predict – we won’t be seeing another Rocksmith this year. Rocksmith 2014 had “lower than expected” sales, shipping only 1 million units. This makes me sad – Rocksmith was a lot of fun, and helpful in learning a skill as well. However, I suppose it has a very niche appeal.

I’m looking forward to Watch Dogs’ launch, and I hope The Division comes this year as well. That said, the MMO market (not that they want to be called that) is so saturated, I’m curious where it will fit in.

The new Just Dance has to be the one I’m least excited about…

Hopefully the Division release soon so that Rainbow 6 Patriots can get a 2015 release.

I hope it’s Far Cry, the amount of epic in 3 was just right…
