If there’s one thing Capcom is great at, its repackaging the same game to sell over and over again, right Super Street Fighter 4 Arcade Hyper-Mega-SUV edition 2.5? And dammit, we’ll still love them for it. Capcom had a hit earlier this year with Marvel versus Capcom 3, an arcade fighter that managed to entice both newcomers and hardcore fans, giving each audience the gameplay that would suit their skill level. And now, Capcom has announced some new additions to the roster for this brawler.

Ultimate Marvel versus Capcom will be an enhanced re-release of the game according to the company, and will include twelve new characters. Four of them have already been announced, with the Marvel side comprising of newcomers Ghost Rider and Hawkeye, while Capcom enthusiasts get Strider and Firebrand.

As for the other characters, rumours point towards other heroes and villains such as Dr Strange, Iron Fist, Frank West from Dead Rising, the Nemesis from Resident Evil 3, Phoenix Wright, Vergil from Devil May Cry and cosmic hero Nova, as some of the remaining characters. As for gameplay, expect the usual tweaks and modifications that will ensure a balanced and fair roster of characters, while new modes will be added, such as Spectator mode, which will allow us to see how the best in the world play this game.

That’s the good news. The bad? People who already own the game won’t be able to update it via DLC; you’ll have to buy the game all over again.

"Right now, we’re only thinking about releasing a disc version," producer Ryota Niitsuma, said to Siliconera, comparing it to the release of Super Street Fighter IV.

"Given the development schedule, there wasn’t enough time to work out all of the details to release it as downloadable content, as well. Also, for the reason you mentioned, there is so much data in the game it was easier to go this route," Niitsuma clarified.
