Uncharted 3 online could have been a seperate product

Let’s be honest with each other here, I think Naughty Dog is flat out lying in their interview with TheSixthAxis, I’m not feeling impartial at all because my BS meter has exploded after reading what they’ve just said.

Apparently according to Justin Richmond from Naughty Dog, Uncharted 3 had to have an online pass because otherwise they’d have to sell the online and offline experiences as two separate titles.

No really, this is what was said

It’s either that or we offer online completely in its entirety also, so we have a complete offline package as well

Now I’m a proponent of the online pass system, I think the gaming environment has changed and the cost of keeping the servers and infrastructure going needs to be covered and instead of having a subscription policy in place I’d much rather have this online pass idea for single games.

But to honestly state that you would consider selling the two sections separately is complete and utter garbage, it would be a massive failure and we all know it.

The only title that could possibly work on is something as obnoxiously massive as Call of Duty and even then people would balk at paying R599 for an online only experience and if Activision offered the online portion for only R299 most people would only buy that and they’d lost money.

All in all don’t treat the gaming public like idiots please.
