Universal Studios and Nintendo are teaming up for theme park rides

Where nothing can possib-ly go wrong

I both love and loathe theme parks. Love ‘em, because being strapped into a hunk of metal that wildly careens high above the ground is exhilarating stuff. Loathe ‘em because getting to said snake-themed attraction usually requires standing in line for several hours, sandwiched between people who smell worse than the reviews for Transformers: Age of Extinction.

Still, theme parks are awesome. Especially if you’ve been to one of the numerous attractions in the US of A. My dream has always been to visit the Universal Studios theme park there, a land where rides are themed along the lines of popular movies and other franchises. And now that thirst has become even more dire, because Nintendo has announced that they’ll be adding some of their own famous properties to those ride line-ups.

Here’s the announcement video that stars Shigeru Miyamoto as he comes to grips with the fact that not even death will help him escape Mario:

If you can’t see the video above, fret not. It’s just Miyamoto and Universal’s Mark Woodbury waxing lyrical. Still, I really like the idea of a Nintendo-themed ride. Mario will of course be the star of the show here, with Universal promising “highly themed and authentic environments” according to a press release that was sent out.

But I’d love to see other characters get more love. Top of my list? Metroid. Imagine a Samus Aran heavy section of the park, filled with all manner of worlds, HUDs and Mother Brain on a rampage. Oh man, that’s the 4D experience that I’d happily strap myself in for. Throw in Legend of Zelda and Pokémon, and I can die a happy nerd. Something which totally never happens at theme parks they’re all totally safe okay.

What kind of Nintendo theme park attraction would have you shoving money at the cashier and buying some Mario Moolah? Because even a Kirby-themed jumping castle would have me excited at this point.

Hahaha the terrified looks on peoples faces are almost more fun than the actual ride.
