VR title ARK Park will let you see dinosaurs up-close and personal

The one thing I really like about VR technology as a whole is that it allows people to experience things they normally never would, in an incredibly immersive way. Want to don a cowl and be Batman for example? You can do that, with Arkham VR.

Though, I suppose that’s not the best example. I mean, just look at Darryn – he often dresses up as the caped crusader in real life, so Arkham VR means nothing to him I bet.

What I’m talking about are experiences that are quite literally impossible to live out in reality. You know, like visiting outer space (that won’t be around for many of us for a good few decades still, if you do want to argue it), or better yet, an actual dinosaur resort, very much like what we see in the Jurassic Park franchise.

Speaking of which, I’d love to see dinosaurs up-close and personal (and without the risk of being gobbled up). That’ll actually be possible next year thanks to ARK Park – a new VR title that’s coming to the HTC Vive, Oculus Rift, and PlayStation VR.

ARK Park is an immersive VR experience that brings to life a world where living, breathing dinosaurs are still roaming the earth. Players embark on an exciting tour of this ancient time, interacting and witnessing hundreds of dinosaurs up-close and personal.

Players begin their ARK Park adventure at a visitor center surrounded by life-sized holographic dinosaurs where they’ll learn about these creatures that they’ve only read about & seen in books and summer blockbusters. From there, players will have the option to explore multiple interactive attractions on-foot or in vehicles & on Dino-back, including a swamp, forest, desert,  snowy mountain range, and more. Each attraction features stunningly rendered and realistic environments of the period inhabited by ARK creatures, which can be found and captured through use of items, weapons, and puzzle-solving.

All ARK Park needs to be a blockbuster hit is a cameo from Samuel L. Jackson as that IT technician, and Jeff Goldblum as Ian Malcolm. Throw in this scene as an Easter egg and I think we’ll have a winner for sure!

What do you think of ARK Park? Would you grab it, assuming you have the expensive VR tech that’ll let you play it?

Apparently it’s not. Snail’s Peacock Studio is developing the VR game, but it is still an ARK title. Studio Wildcard is acting on a “consulting” basis. Doesn’t mean it’s less of a money-grab though.

Yea. Regardless of them doing it themselves, they’re branching out too much while the initial game is still an unoptimised mess.

Agreed. I’m just waiting for their excuse this time. Last was something about being able to test transferring data easier between ARKs whilst still in early access, yeah?

Oh yay. More stuff for the dev to cash in on while everything else remains unfinished. And then people still buy into this crap, getting excited about it, while wanting to complain about the industry at the same time. YOU are the problem with the gaming industry, because you support devs who do sh!t like this.

Agreed. I doubt I’ll ever buy an early access game again. Too much risk.

I would get this, if it was any good, even if all I got was to walk around and look at the dinos from different sides and angles.

I saw ARK on the PS Store but decided to buy a Ubisoft game instead, even though Ubisoft releases games in early access they at least have the balls to claim it’s finished even though it clearly needs mopre polish than a teenagers knob on prom night

Sounds like a game where you’re helping Noah get 2 of each animal into the Ark.
