War! What is it good for? How about… soup?

Ok, what about Warsoup? Hey? Yeah, now that sounds pretty interesting doesn’t it? Good thing too because that’s the name of Moon Game Studios’ upcoming game for consoles and PC. The game is touted as being a first-person shooter real time strategy game. If that’s too much of a mouthful, then think StarCraft II meets Halo. Well, that’s what Moon Game Studios is going for at least.

The game debuted recently via a video posted on Youtube by the development team. In it they give you a run down on what they’re aiming for and what we can expect in the final product. Apart from the uniquely awesome name, the game has a lot of familiar mechanics that any fans of team-based competitive games will be able to spot. In that regard I’d say it’s more like Monday Night Combat meets Halo. The aesthetics of the guns and movement all scream Halo, but the turret placing and constant back and forth suggest MNC rather than StarCraft II.

There’s a five minute video after the jump and about 2:30 in you can see the player laying waste to defenceless, innocent Companion Cubes – poor little buggers.

  1. Interesting idea, could be a hell of a lot of fun, the question is will people play with the minimalistic gfx?

reminds me of Team Fortress actually which isn’t a bad idea it’ll be interesting to see how this develops but at the moment it looks like something that’ll be adopted by PC goers more than console…
