Warlords of Draenor’s stunning trailer (and release date)

Blizzard are the undisputed kings of cinematic CGI trailers. It makes me wonder why their art team isn’t just making the World of Warcraft movie themselves. I mean, just look at how damn amazing the opening cinematic for Warlords of Draenor is.

Last night Blizzard hosted a special event for the upcoming World of Warcraft expansion. They explained what changes the expansion would make to their genre defining MMO, how multiple zones would be changed and when millions of players would be able to get their hands on it. But first, they showed us this:

You don’t even need to know what happened in Warcraft 3 to appreciate the sheer quality of a short like that. There’s some big players featured in that trailer, which alters a rather pivotal moment in Warcraft 3 that changed the series forever. So now the Orcs are no longer slaves to The Burning Crusade, a rather massive change that is made possible by some of the time travelling magic that forms the backbone of Blizzard’s new expansion.

That little narrative switcharoo makes its way into gameplay too. Changes to existing zones, new bosses and some riveting raid scenarios headline some of the content Warlords of Draenor brings to the table. Some smaller additions include a bump to the level cap, as well as the ability to boost new characters straight up to level 90. And, of course, there’s a lot more lore surrounding the Orcs. You can check out some of the in-game changes below.

I don’t have to be a World of Warcraft player to see that this is probably one of the biggest expansions World of Warcraft has ever seen, which is a big deal after the panda-pointment of Mists of Pandaria. Blizzard’s latest expansion will hit shelves on the 13th of November. Hopefully this helps plug the leak in World of Warcraft’s subscriber pool.

  1. And of course it needs to buffer every 3 seconds even when set to 360p.

Your line must be terrible because it plays fine for me at 480p

It’s my work’s line so it probably has over 100 people on it right now.
Before 8:00 am I can easily watch on 720p, but now… just trying to Google something is a hassle.

I recently got into WoW again (literally last weekend =p), So doing my best to catch up on all the lore and everything I missed. The garrisons are what excite me the most about this game though, reminds me of old school warcraft.

I was a solid player of WoW till the subscription fees become to much for me to continue.
That being said, I’m a massive fan of the lore of the Warcraft universe.

here’s a bit of advice Garrosh,
When going back in time, be careful not to make your mom get the hots for you.

*This* is WarCraft. This is what a WarCraft motion picture should ever look like. I do not understand at all why Blizzard feel the need to outsource the development – and deny the fans a proper faithful CG-rendered version – of a WarCraft movie.

There’s no way that the movie will be faithful to the look and feel of WarCraft, just the logo change alone says a lot.
