Watch Dogs 2 delayed on PC 2

If you’re sensing a little tingling of nostalgia and can’t really put your finger on why, Ubisoft is here to help. Almost identical to their habits a few years ago, the publisher announced that the PC version of the highly anticipated Watch Dogs 2 won’t be arriving on time. Instead, it’s coming just a few weeks later – like the first Watch Dogs before it.

Ubisoft announced the delay late yesterday, with the new release date being set for November 29th (previously the 15th). Ubisoft wants to ensure that their sequel runs well across a wide range of hardware configurations before releasing it out into the wild. That’s a noble endeavour, especially since so many PC ports have chequered histories under the publisher. The first Watch Dogs in particular was a little bit of a nightmare at launch. It took Ubisoft weeks to sort out some of the more crucial issues, and it’s likely they don’t want a repeat.

With news of the delay came more concrete information regarding hardware specifications. Ubisoft detailed both the minimum and recommend setups you’ll need for the more hacking focused sequel, and they’re pretty much in line with what you’d expect.

Minimum

  • Supported OS – (64-bit versions only): Windows 7 SP1, Windows 8.1, Windows 1
  • Processor: Intel Core i5 2400S @ 2.5 GHz | AMD FX 6120 @ 3.5 GHz
  • RAM: 6GB
  • Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660 (2GB) | AMD Radeon HD 7870 (2GB) or better
  • Hard Disk Space: 50 GB
  • Peripherals: Windows-compatible keyboard and mouse, Microsoft Xbox One Controller, Dual Shock 4 Controller
  • Multiplayer: 256 Kbps or faster broadband connection

Recommended

  • Supported OS – (64-bit versions only): Windows 7 SP1, Windows 8.1, Windows 10
  • Processor: Intel Core i5 3470 @ 3.2GHz | AMD FX 8120 @ 3.9 GHz
  • RAM: 8GB
  • Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780 (3GB) | NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970 (4GB) | NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 (3GB) or better | AMD Radeon R9 290 (4GB) or better
  • Hard Disk Space: 50 GB
  • Peripherals : Windows-compatible keyboard and mouse, Microsoft Xbox One controller, Dual Shock 4 controller
  • Multiplayer: 256 Kbps or faster broadband connection

The post also detailed some of the PC exclusive graphical features players can expect, including 4K support, an array of graphical sliders and improved keyboard and mouse support. It’s always disappointing to have to wait. But if it means fewer headaches on launch day, I’m all for it.

The recommended hardware requirements are pretty light compared to what we’ve been seeing from other games lately.

Lol I’m sure that’s got nothing to do with the constant downgrades from ubifail

Wait, so just like with the first one they’re delaying it to sort out crucial issues… just to release it later without having sorted out the crucial issues? 😛

“Ubisoft wants to ensure that their sequel runs well across a wide range of hardware configurations before releasing it out into the wild” the words developers used that gave me trust issues.
