Watch Dogs prepares to launch with trailer

I’m not quite sure I understand the purpose of a launch trailer. I suppose it’s the final hype push, the last step towards making us excited for a game. It might not really show anything new, but it bundles all the stuff we’ve seen into a nice package. Watch Dogs’ launch trailer does just that.

For those who don’t watch videos in general, we are treated to a quick and easy summary of Aiden Pearce’s motivations – he saw something he shouldn’t have, they took away someone he cared about, and now he will go after them. The finer points about who “they” are aren’t explored, but we do get some awesome hacking clips showing just how powerful Aiden can be with his cell phone that never seems to need a battery charge. I don’t like the idea of needing to manipulate hacking while driving in game – I’m a horrible driver in games. But seeing the whole city black out, well that just never gets old. I’m excited for this game, not so much for the big moments shown here, but for the smaller parts – I want to wander around Chicago hacking people and stopping crime.

Watch Dogs is almost upon us, launching 27 May – so next week. Will you be jumping on board the hacking train? I’m seriously amped for this game, but (as always) I’m worried that the hype will be too great and the game will end up feeling like a let down, even if it’s very good.

Unfortunately, our review for the game will likely be late, as we’ve yet to receive it.

I would have wanted to jam this, but alas, I have a spending embargo that I forced on myself…..until the spring sales kick in.

That being said, the game is looking pretty damn awesome

Does the running animation look a little odd to anyone else (of the main character) ???

Yeah, the fact that the review embargo is day of release has me scared out of my mind. Why do that?

i agree – always feel better about a game when reviews come out a few days before launch.

True, I mean, look at that HUGE pre-order combos….it would be risky to review the game before the time and lose out on those pre-orders…..How sad

Yeah, not sure if you can say the reviewers will give spoilers. They would be pretty terrible if they did.

I didn’t say I believed them all 100%, on the other hand, I have seen reviewers give spoilers before 🙂

When I saw IGN I almost closed the browser never mind the tab. But the trailer has me excited. Now after the hype has settled and the game is out I bet we hear all about bugs, server issues and hacks.

I really hope this kicks arse. Would be great to have an open world like GTAV but a more ‘serious’ story.

I’ve already got most all of the original DoW series scattered about the house… somewhere, but DoW 2 is really tempting me.

Ok my Watch Dogs hype is back 🙁

I think I have a sandbox game addiction… I currently have Sleeping Dogs (on second play through), Saints Row the Third (Finished before, playing on Xbox now) and GTAV (finished and still play GTA Online at times) installed on my Xbox… not mentioning the other ones I’ve played, finished, and replayed.
