Watch Ronda Rousey and Miesha Tate bliksem each other

But Ronda's a Rousey musician anyway,

I don’t care much for the UFC, or any other of those extreme events that sees people pummelling each other like caged animals. Tough as nails, hard bastard animals, I admit – but just not my scene. I do however love the games they’re based on; I can stomach watching digital people smack the snot out of each other far more easily. EA’s first MMA game since grabbing the UFC license is nearly upon us, and it’s looking really, really good.

Here’s a video of Ronda Rousey and Miesha Tate’s digital counterparts smacking the stuffing out of each other, and the game is looking mighty impressive. Motion seems to be more natural, as is collision detection. It doesn’t seem like two barely pliable action figures battling. that’s the game’s new “full body deformation” at work.

Yes, there are problems, like the Octagon’s fence disappearing; it’s meant to be a feature so that the fence never obstructs your view, but it seems to be a bit too liberal in application. I’m also not at all sold on the submission mini-games, something EA’s calling “Strategic Submission Battles” but I’ll have to go hands on with it to see how intuitive it actually feels.

That aside, it looks like a damned solid UFC game, and has Bruce Lee in it, so it has to be good. It’s being developed by EA’s Fight Night team, a bunch of chaps who know how to make a good, realistic sports fighting game. It’s coming to the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in the middle of next month. TapOut shirts and USN protein shakes not included.

I am still not happy about the fcking HUD mini game for the grappling 🙁
It totally destroys the pacing. 2009 was the shit because is was the first fighting game not to have a HUD and it worked. Nothing wrong with the wax on effect.

Just going to have to do what we did with UFC Undisputed and play as a stand up fighter 🙁

I hated that “Shine” mechanic for the submissions,

It was better than being ripped out of the action to play a little chase mini-game. Besides it was all about knowing when to wax by looking at how fatigued your opponent was.

I hope they at the very least give us the option to play old school.

Agreed. It was nice to have a game where you had to ‘feel’ when you were winning, not watch some stupid ‘snake’ chase you in a circle.

It is made by the Fight Night devs so expect the polish from this game to cross over to Fight Night 2015 🙂

I see that they are using the same controls as Fight Night by making the right stick do all of the strikes.

Not so sure, I think they are using the Fight Night engine as the foundation. That has been ironed out over the years. THQ had a masterpiece with Yukes.

Just funny how it ended up with EA over how much HATE Dana White displayed towards the company for bombing his proposal.

I suppose no grudge survives a good bank account.

So EA say ‘Fuck you Mr Danna White and THQ pick up a franchise that is growing at a mental rate. THQ fold and EA are like ‘Oh, Mr White, can you hear me?”

I do not think any other company can do this game better justice than EA Sports. As much as I love to hate EA, this game is going to ROCK.

They even went so far to say that they are not going to release it every year after how THQ milked it with no success.

Agreed. EA will go all out. DLC advertising, DLC finishing moves DLC clothes 😛 Also, THQ only made, not quite the milking machine and if not for them people wouldn’t have played 2009 which is still the fucking best.

Even the Bruce Lee is DLC 🙁 THQ also sucked in that department with classic fight mode DLC.

I just hope the raw bones work off-line as you all know that I do not give a hoot like the 50% of PS4 owners who have not signed into PS Plus.

It better fucking work with no day one patch or no SALE.

They are clever. They will not make another game next year but they will keep updating the game yearly via DLC.

That submission mini game is an abomination. Have you ever seen Rhonda do an armbar, it is fluid and quick. It is also devastating I saw none of that here. The escapes actually look to easy as well.
