Xcom 2 1

For those who waiting in long queues (or had bookings with PR people like I did), the reward for XCOM 2 was watching this demo. I already told you a bit about it when I showed off my exclusive interview, but at least now you can watch the demo for yourself.

Here is the ten minute video for your viewing pleasure.

Now remember, this isn’t truly indicative of real gameplay that we’ll see in the final product. It’s an E3 demo that’s put together to show off as many different elements as possible. However, the slickness of it all simply astounds me. If the combination between movement, combat and cut scenes is going to look like that, well, color me impressed.

I adore the sound effects and music in the demo as well. The whole experience is so immersive and the game is already looking so polished. I know it’s only coming in November, but it’s looking ridiculously pretty already. Plus, that stealth system looks so deep and strategic – I’m really keen to see how it plays out in real gameplay.

I’m really intrigued by the new take on history in this XCOM. It’s cool to be the underdog, to be sabotaging key points and working to overthrow an evil regime. Sure, we do it in plenty of games, but it’s the first time we get to do it in an XCOM game and I’m really excited at the prospect of being a rebel. Now to prepare for all the console gamers to cry – it’s looking so good, PS4 and Xbox One gamers are seriously missing out.

All I want is XCOM on the Vita. It would be perfect for the small screen and on the go.

I think after the last E3 we can officially say that the Vita is dead. Wii-U to follow shortly.

Oh, btw, I watched the one video interview where they confirmed the whole movement/combat/cut scene thing was amped up a bit for the demo. Still there, but not to that level.
