Watch_Dogs’ digital extras and PC specs confirmed

It’s 1 month, 3 weeks, 1 day and a few hours until Watch_Dogs is released. That’s what Steam says anyway. They’ve put the game up for digital pre-order , with two versions of the game available. In doing so, they’ve also confirmed the game’s PC specs – which are a little more detailed than the ones the game’s creative director, Jonathon Morin, revealed last month.

For the standard $60, you get the base game, though pre-ordering the digital version through Steam also nets you the Blume Agent Pack, consisting of:

  • Blume Agent Outfit
  • Blume Weapon Perk: Less recoil on shots

If you pony up an extra $10, you’ll be getting quite a bit more in the way of digital content:

  • CLUB JUSTICE PACK
    Rewards: Chicago South Club skin
Perk: Driving boost: More Hit Points to Vehicles
  • BREATHROUGH Mission:
    15 minutes additional gameplay
Reward: VEHICLE EXPERT PERK: Get free vehicles from your Underground Car Contact and earn discounts on select cars.
  • SIGNATURE SHOT Mission:
    20 minutes additional gameplay
    Rewards:
    – BLACK VICEROYS GANG COLORS OUTFIT
    – BIOMETRIC ASSAULT RIFLE
  • THE PALACE Mission:
    20 minutes additional gameplay
    Rewards:
    – INVESTIGATION BONUS: Unlock more investigation opportunities inside the network databanks.
    – ATM HACK BOOST: Boost your cash rewards when hacking bank accounts.
  • EXCLUSIVE CONTENT:
60 min of additional gameplay – 4 exclusive missions
A unique DedSec White Hat Hacker suit unlocked upon completion of the missions.
Hacking Boost (Add 1 Battery Slot)
A deeper knowledge of DedSec, an important faction in the Watch_Dogs universe.

Minimum:

  • OS: Windows Vista (SP2), Windows 7 (SP1) or Windows 8 (Please note that we only support 64 bit OSs.)
  • Processor: Intel Core 2 Quad Q8400 @ 2.66Ghz or AMD Phenom II X4 940 @ 3.0Ghz
  • Memory: 6 GB RAM
  • Graphics: DirectX 11 graphics card with 1 GB Video RAM – Nvidia Geforce GTX 460 or AMD Radeon HD 5770
  • DirectX: Version 11
  • Hard Drive: 25 GB available space
  • Sound Card: DirectX 9.0c Compatible Sound Card with Latest Drivers
  • Additional Notes: Broadband connection and service required for multiplayer mode. Supported Video Cards at Time of Release: nVidia GeForce GTX460 or better, GT500, GT600, GT700 series; AMD Radeon HD5850 or better, HD6000, HD7000, R7 and R9 series Intel Iris Pro HD 5200

Recommended:

  • OS: Windows Vista (SP2), Windows 7 (SP1) or Windows 8 (Please note that we only support 64 bit OSs.)
  • Processor: Eight core – Intel Core i7-3770 @3.5 GHz or AMD FX-8350 X8 @ 4 GHz
  • Memory: 8 GB RAM
  • Graphics: DirectX 11 graphics card with 2 GB Video RAM – Nvidia Geforce GTX 560 ti or AMD Radeon HD 7850
  • DirectX: Version 11
  • Hard Drive: 25 GB available space
  • Sound Card: DirectX 9.0c Compatible Sound Card with Latest Drivers
  • Additional Notes: Broadband connection and service required for multiplayer mode. Supported Video Cards at Time of Release: nVidia GeForce GTX460 or better, GT500, GT600, GT700 series; AMD Radeon HD5850 or better, HD6000, HD7000, R7 and R9 series Intel Iris Pro HD 5200

Honestly those specs are hardly taxing, save for that odd, 8 core requirement for the recommended specs. It’s especially odd as the recommended specs are pared with pretty old, midrange cards; Nvidia Geforce GTX 560 ti or AMD Radeon HD 7850. It suggests that the game is either far more CPU intensive than it is GPU intensive, or that it’s just not going to be quite as graphically impressive as the 2012 E3 reveal would have us believe. Or maybe, just maybe this will be the one Ubisoft game that’s optimised for PC.

Of course, you could always run the game in 4K if you have a machine capable of that. Presumably you’ll need something a little beefier than a 560 ti for that purpose. Might I suggest an Nvidia Titan Z?

Watch Dogs is coming to PC, PlayStation 3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One on May 27. A Wii U version is coming at some point in the future.

Is it just me that thinks that, that CPU for recommended and even minimum is a bit excessive?

For a R100 you can get 2.15 hours of extra gameplay…I can’t be the only one that just finds this type of advertising appalling…I mean. Stating you’ll get 15 mins extra gameplay….Please tell me I’m not alone….I don’t like this

It’s probably more CPU intensive because of the world simulation.

In other words – they cut almost 2 hours worth of content from the game & will sell it at a $10 premium.

In the new Rise of the Triad you unlock an achievement by running the game using what they call “Ludicrous graphics mode”.

LOL yeah I saw that! Also, if you change the music to the 1995 music you unlock an achievement called “Dat Nostalgia”

You’ll be fine with your 4670k, as will I with my 3570K, provided you have a decent GFX card. Don’t go replacing CPUs just yet 😉

I have the msi gtx 760 , 4gig oc card

Awe while I was doing my research they rates the 4670k i5 best value for money for gaming

Was thinking cause I edit so much I might need to upgrade soonish to i7 but then they say software needs to make use of the new cores

Oh well back to AC 3

I’m running a 770 2gb OC and been very, very impressed with it. If you’re into editing, the more cores the better, but for gaming, an i5 does just as well.

Yea will wait a year before I get another processor

The new intel chips don’t really have any wow factor for me

My friend mentioned even amd for editin would be good ?

            Any thoughts ?

I stand to be corrected, but Intel will be a more “solid” option for editing. The drivers are generally better too. I work in packaging and retouching and we work exclusively on Mac which is all Intel now. Mac handles editing like no other, whether it’s stills or video.

But that’s my opinion and experience.

I used to edit on a 2007 Mac book pro , has done me really well , but at some point speed went down the tube( working with 4gb files , hence I detracted windows my curren set up is so killa for edting by I am still having random crashes with 8.1 witch is a real fck up

I am sure I herd somewhere that amd strictly for edting is a solid choice

But in the back of my mind , I will stick with intel , they leading the pack , amd will just copy and paste where as intel is first place all the way
