The Assassin’s Creed Syndicate E3 demo had two main components to it: a based infiltration sequence and an all-out brawl. Thanks to the cool people of the Yogscast, you can now see just under an hour of gameplay as they work their way through the demo. Unfortunately, the video shouldn’t be nearly that long if they actually played the game well. They also make it look incredibly boring.

Am I the only one who actually kills everyone without ever being seen? What is the point of having all the awesome stabbing and environmental skills if you’re just going to jump into open combat? I don’t get it. The open combat in Assassin’s Creed has supposedly been revamped, but we all know it’s still going to be awful. At this point, players barely even need to parry thanks to the “more visceral combat” that basically makes it “press X to win”.
I’m so sad to see what’s happening to one of my favorite franchises. I still think I will enjoy Assassin’s Creed Syndicate, mainly because I think running around as Evie will suit my stealthier gameplay. But the story and the gameplay are feeling so stagnant lately. Assassin’s Creed Rogue at least told a unique story with a believable character, but I’m not impressed with what I’ve seen of Jacob Frye lately. Here’s hoping that Evie is a better character, and that the overarching story of Assassin’s Creed can grow into something worthwhile again.

This. Don’t understand the hype around these games. When the first AC came out, sure. The movement, stealth mechanics etc were pretty groundbreaking. Now it’s like, yeah, you showed me this same game in 8 years ago.

Ever play Viking Battle For Asgard? Was actually a pretty underrated game. Flawed, but unique and enjoyable.

2 years isnt realistic, but atleast a year, we just had a double release of rogue and unity in november, and we’re already pretty much set for the next one?
when a game takes less than a year to release a playable demo, somethings not right.

The problem is it’s a lets play video to start with and those two aren’t very entertaining, I like the idea of gang wars. Almost like Gangs of New York type of deal. Now if the could only get Daniel Day Lewis to play in this game.

watching anyone play any game poorly makes me cringe.
especially when these are the people that are reviewing and giving terrible scores for games because “the learning curve is too big”
and then make comments about the combat system in syndicate being “much more gritty and savage” when its actually been streamlined and refined.
im no pro gamer, but im well rounded, watching incompetant gamers just makes me angry.
i dont think going into open combat is boring though, i like a balance, stealth as much as possible, but not the point where it extends the mission or fight for longer than is necessary.
pick the tough ones off like the big guys with axes, riflemen and captains, disarm bells etc then force a fight with the leftover scrubs when theres nothing left to be gained by sneaking.

last i checked it was ok.
was getting decent performance out of it without any glitches.
NPCs still have a mind of their own, interupting cutscenes etc, but it ran well enough.

If it is anything like Unity, It is not “press X to win”. I actually really enjoy open combat over stealth. I always felt like stealth was too easy on AC games. I like stepping out of cover, and thinking “take me down, if you can.”
