Wesely “oDu” Rose joins White Rabbit Gaming in Dota 2 roster change

White Rabbit Gaming is the team who will always be remembered as the ones who dethroned the seemingly unbeatable Bravado Gaming at last year’s Telkom Digital Gaming League Dota 2 Masters. While WRG set the pace for an exciting 2017, they did not hold back –  winning every single competition this year, so far, including both VS Gaming Masters competitions. What made WRG such a powerhouse, in my opinion, was their team dynamic. They all seemed to respect each other, and they all seemed really close – like a bunch of friends just having a good time. That changed last week when Michael “Santo” Myburgh made a move to Bravado Gaming and WRG were able to scoop up one of South Africa’s best support players, Wesley “oDu” Rose.

The loss of Santo is understandably a big one, but with Rose joining the squad, WRG retains an extremely strong roster for the remainder of the year. Rose has competed in a number of teams since the beginnings of Dota 2. He competed under Bravado Gaming during their unbeatable streak, and recently joined Energy Esports for the majority of the 2017 competitive year.

I’m extremely excited to be joining WRG, I’ve always wanted to join this organization because it feels much like a family. With WRG by our side, we plan to work hard. South Africa has never seen a team like this and we are all 100% committed and motivated to succeeding.” said Rose in the WRG press release.

Rose’s Dota 2 résumé is one of the more impressive in South Africa. While competing is one major part, Rose has remained a standout member of the Dota 2 community, remembering back to the days of his 1v1 solo mid competitions, and other ventures like the South African In-house League.

Dota 2 has one major competition left this year, the Orena Championship Series, and it’s going to be an interesting one with the number of roster changes which have occurred since the VS Gaming Masters. Bravado Gaming has acquired a rather formidable squad, while former contenders XTC Gaming are left to pick up their pieces. It’s unclear what the motivation was for the departure of Santo from White Rabbit Gaming, but perhaps it’s time to spread the talent once again in order to offer some great Dota 2 for remainder of the 2017 and start of the 2018 season.
