What’s coming in the next big Witcher 3 patch?

I’m finally properly stuck in to The Witcher 3 after many week of having to play other stuff,  and it’s a rather glorious thing, keeping me busy during my free, waking hours. I’ve finally hit level 30 after being stuck at level 2 for weeks and my quest progress – and progress in all the periphery – is coming along rather nicely. Anyone who’s still playing the game this many weeks after launch is probably enjoying it immensely, though one must admit that the game still has a number of weird and wonky issues. Issues that are hopefully fixed by the game’s next great big patch.

Numbered 1.07 (for the PC…it’ll be 1.06 on consoles) this latest post-release patch is a large one that brings with it a few  rather welcome changes related to inventory management – like a separate tab for books, and the ability to pin alchemy ingredients to make finding the ones you need easier. Crafting components will no longer add to weight, so you’ll be able to stash more loot for selling. There are no details on exactly what it entails, but there’s also a new “movement response mode” for the grey-haired slayer of man of beast. Importantly, there are number of fixes to some of the game’s still broken quests, so it should hopefully get many players unstuck.

  • A new, alternative (optional) movement response mode for Geralt.
  • A player stash for storing items, available in various locations throughout the game. Stash locations are marked on the player’s map.
  • Crafting and alchemy components no longer add to the overall inventory weight.
  • Books are now placed in a dedicated tab in the Inventory and books that have already been read are properly grayed out.
  • Multiple sorting options are now available in the Inventory.
  • Alchemy formulas and crafting diagrams can be “pinned”, meaning all components and ingredients required to make them will be conveniently marked in the Shop panel.
  • Dozens of fixes for quest related issues, both major and minor.
  • A few performance enhancements, including the optimization of FX, scenes and general gameplay.
  • Various improvements to horse behavior.

It’ll be out this week, and because it’s a drain on the team, there’ll be no free DLC this week. Some of that fee DLC is pretty good. While stuff like alternate costumes and beards is superfluous, quests like “Where the Cat and Wolf Play” are very much worth playing.

Interested to see what the new moving mechanic is..otherwise that’s a pretty decent changelog. They’re still tweaking things like the inventory etc. Pretty amazing. Witcher 3 is a stunning game and excels in almost every area. It’s mughty inpressive just how much they’ve packed into this game.

And the sad thing is I picked it up and played about 4 hours and moved on to other games.

Maybe I am just all open worlded out.

I don’t know. I don’t like WRPGs and Open-world games, but Witcher 3 is tight, while being really open…if that makes ANY sense. Hard to explain. Game is finely crafted and the open world feels packed with MEANINGFUL things to do unlike most open-world RPGs.

Think it’s because even little side quests have a story to them. Even though in many cases they are the standard, quick, go-there-and-kill-something quests – they’re given some personality.

Yeah, quite a lot of personality which goes a long way in reducing the tedium of your playthrough. I mean, when I was playing on Sunday, I just explored an area a bit and came across two peasants praying to Allgod lol quest took me 5 minutes but it was interesting to see the resolution of the quest and the identity of Allgod.

That’s another thing, it’s happened a few times where I start a quest that looks like a quick 5 minutes, but then turns into a whole damn hour. It’s sweet when that happens.

Still. I have been playing too many open world/sandbox games lately that I am craving a on rails shooter and those are pretty much starting to go extinct. At least I can look forward to DOOM until they announce it will be open world. 🙂

I have to admit I’ve done pretty much the same thing. I got out of the starting area, met Yennefer again & was dissapointed by the lack of immediate unicorn-back boning, and went back to The Old Republic.

W3 is great, I quite enjoyed what I played of it, and it certainly is a beautiful game. But I feel no urge or need whatsoever to play it right now.

I’ve got 4 bugged quests, all on Skellige. Hope they’ve fixed them because it… bugs.. me seeing them there.

I’ve been exploring Kaer Morhen the last couple of days, that place is pretty. There’s a question mark on the far end of the lake where you kill a wyvern – I’d recommend that spot to all sight seers. Goddamn beautiful view from up there.

I am playing it on easy mode for the second play through on purpose, My goal is to wear the starting Gear all the way because it looks kick ass.

I unlocked a level 37 sword after completing over 250 missions. 🙁 What a waste. I do get the impression that allot of content was cut out for the future expansions, leaving a very imbalanced leveling system.

Otherwise I am more than happy finding the cat gear as early as possible and focusing on light attacks around level 7. Good replay value.

            July 7, 2015 at 11:54

Ya, most people don’t realize that the witcher gear has to be co-joined with the relevant buffs from the skill tree and allocated into a slot. The only way to get a high level at the end game is by keeping witcher gear on for extra EXP on kills and sign damage.

Cat = light armor Skill set and buffs the light attack
Griffin = medium armor Skill set and buffs the signs
Bear = heavy armor Skill and buffs heavy attack

Most of the youtube videos that I have watched are shocking. Its like Gerald fell into a fashion tsunami 😛

Not that it matters the time you’re able to equip the darn armour the game is next to done… I did buy the expansion seeing that I’m a loser and got sucked in by the lore. But that wont be out until October or later… FML…

I also had Griffin, by using Witcher Gear you get extra buffs like 10% extra EXP on human kills. You also need to unlock the perk in the skill tree for each gear and allocate it to a slot.

Cat = light armor Skill set and buffs the light attack
Griffin = medium armor Skill set and buffs the signs
Bear = heavy armor Skill and buffs heavy attack

By keeping witcher gear equipped, noon wraith trophy and using all Axii options in conversations you should get to level 40.

If Capcom make an effort to improve their characters’ development, I can see how promising this game could be,
