Games make people violent. We all know this to be fact (that’s sarcasm – try to keep up). But what we didn’t know is that games make dogs violent too. Who’d have thought? Megan Walker didn’t that’s for sure, because she was attacked by a dog because she was playing a game.
According to the UK’s Daily Mail newspaper, the bull mastiff cross attacked Megan, dragging her off the couch she was sitting on, because it heard the Nintendogs barking in the game. The attacking dog then bit off the child’s top lip, which was fortunately re-attached with surgery.
According to nine-year-old Megan’s grandmother, Jean Taylor, the dog was provoked to attack because of the game Megan was playing on her DS: “I blame the game for what happened to Megan. If they hadn’t been playing it I don’t think the dog would have gone for her.†It’s a horrible story, and one that ended with the dog being put down.
Naturally, because this seems to be the agenda of most newspapers, the blame is being placed entirely on the game that apparently provoked the dog, and not on the owner of the dog or Megan’s grandmother who was supposed to be looking after her in the first place. There is one very brief sentence towards the end of the article that says it’s possible Megan kicked the dog. But let’s not focus on that when there’s a gaming company’s name to be dragged through the mud! (That’s more sarcasm.)
On the bright side, at least it’s a Nintendo game getting blamed for causing mayhem. I was getting tired of the usual, passé reports of Rockstar being the reason for moral collapse and social anarchy.

Yes, you are totally right. The slant they took on this story is a perfect example of why people refer the them as such.
