When will Techies be available in Dota 2?

The Dota 2 hero Techies is something the community has been wanting for a very long time. Remember the compendium from The International last year? It’s almost laughable when compared to this year’s one, but the maximum planned stretch goal was $3,200,000. It was never reached. The reward for reaching it would have allowed the community to choose the next hero to be released into the game. Anybody can tell you that Techies would have won that contest hands down.

Valve finally showed off the crazy duo during the All-Star match at the event this year. The community are still waiting for an official release, though. There was a patch on the 30th of July, but it was pulled according to a Reddit user called SirBelvedere.

PATCH REVERTED – Maybe they will dispatch it again today or maybe tomorrow. Can’t say. But I analyzed it fully. So that’s good news

He actually managed to document all the changes, which can be read right here. I have not been able to confirm the legitimacy of his findings, so please bear in mind that this could all be utter garbage. There are no real gameplay changes. It appears to be mostly some minor fixes, extra cosmetics, and other random stuff. The only Techies related information I could find is this little snippet:

Alright, so the hero looks better, but where the hell is he? If this link is accurate and to be believed, why did Valve release the patch only to revert it? Are they just being ultimate trolls, pretending that Techies will not be released during this patch but he will, or was it just a genuine mistake and they forgot to add or do something? GRAB YOUR TINFOIL HATS PEOPLE!

Maybe I am just shooting into the dark here. SirBelvedere does go on to say that the revert patch was thanks to some broken elements.

The second 226 Mb patch was a full revert. The animations and particles got broken because of the recap system files that got added. That’s why the redownload

Still, I would love to know when the damn hero will be released. I have never played Techies, but I’ve heard he is quite the pub stomper/cause of much rage/ender of friendships. What’s better than one Techies? Why not ten? Check out DotaCinema having fun in a custom mod. If anything, I’m hoping this video points to his release being pretty soon, perhaps in the patch that was pulled.
