Halo: Reach comes out tomorrow and fan boys and girls alike are salivating at the thought of the 14th. Never before has a Halo game received such a marketing push from ads, trailers, developer interviews and even links to South African Apartheid history.
Microsoft owns the Halo franchise, but with developers Bungie signing an independent publishing agreement with Activision this all means that Bungie’s next several projects, by definition, cannot be Halo games.
So it’s understandable that Bungie really needs the Halo community to stand up and take this one seriously and what better way to do that than with another pre-order bonus.
Put your money down early and the game comes in a recovered ONI ‘black box,’ and an artifact bag containing Dr. Halsey’s personal journal, unravelling long held secrets from the Halo universe. Excited yet?
Well, you should be, as this is a huge step up from another poo-poo piece of code. Example: When you buy the Legendary Edition of Halo: Reach you also get the exclusive flaming helmet effect…
sigh.
But even if this does get you excited don’t think you are special just yet. Most of the time these codes will be released as a free DLC a month from launch and soon everyone will be just like you. Left 4 Dead 2’s baseball bat swing to mind?
But enough ranting; so many articles have already been written on the segway from the happy meal of pre-order bonuses to the string of numbers that are filled with empty promises of new world greatness.
With the Halo franchise coming to an end, both Microsoft and Bungie are really pulling out all the stops and bringing it back to basics. Pre-order and this time you will actually have something to show for it.

I think its refreshing to see a developers and publisher parting ways on a positive note. At first I wasnt sure that Bungie going to Activision was a good thing but now that I think about it, it will workout better for Xbox gamers in the long run as Activision has a better relationship with MS than SONY. Where as I know that with EA they have a tendecy to learn more towards SONY than MS (Mass Effect anyone?) So MS wins,Bungie wins, Activision wins and we the gamers win!

We the gamers win? How exactly? Is that before or after we get screwed over by Activision and Microsoft and their strategy of overpriced dlc? Aussious you are one of those pathetic xbot fanbois that will suck gladly on microsoft’s teat and even pass them the vaseline with a smile on your face.

Samus Aran from Metroid would like to know why there’s an xbox 360 wedged up your rear? She also says you should get kinect, because your ass is looking a little flabby.
Why is it that xbots are usually such fat bastards? Why is this Aussious?
Aussious

Hmmm you and Samus seem to have alot in common do you also share the same cycle? Which would explain you seemingly irrational and senseless ranting.

Which is ironic because the xbox 360 actually looks like one of those old 1980 sanitary pads. Is that why you have it wedged up your colon, because it makes you feel like a natural woman?
You’re doing it wrong.

Hey the dude attacked me,these days you say anything positive about MS or Activision and everyone can’t wait to tell what a bottom feeder you are for supporting these evil corperations as if they’ve never bougth a game from Activision or used software from MS and if so then keep it that way and let us “mindless drons” keep pumping money into these evil multi nationals.

Ive also been on the Activision hate bandwagon but i must admit im enjoying the hell out of Spiderman Shattered Dimensions and i heard good things about The transformers game recently released. I also really enjoyed Singularity. You can definitely see that Activision are increasing support for these B-team games. The production values are sky high in Spiderman. Still they have some way to go before they topple EA as my favourite 3rd party company this gen. With Mass Effect 3, Dead Space 2, Dragon Age 2, Bulletsorm, Mikami horror title, Portal 2, Crysis 2,the new Insomniac game, Respawn AKA The new Infinity Ward game and Mirros Edge 2 coming out Activision have a hell of a lot of work to do to win me back.

Speaking of EA has anyone noticed their brilliant pricing compared to everyone else. All their games including the big ones like Dragon Age 2, Dead Space 2, Crysis 2, Bulletstorm and Medal of Honor are being listed for R430. I dont know what the excs at EA have been smoking but i hope those prices stay the same and they keep smoking it.

EA games are all cheaper than other games in SA, it’s because EA are the only company who actually manufactures their stuff locally instead of importing, which also means that there is no distributor cut added on either.
AC!D
September 13, 2010 at 16:27
They were already the cheapest at R520 last year. I wasnt expecting them to cut it another R90 is all im saying. Halo Reach at R590 VS COD at R615 VS Medal of Honor at R430. Suddenly im tempted to purchase Medal of Honor

Because you’re a softheaded xbot who probably retains water and your opinion can be written on a stamp. Just face it Assious, Microsoft sucks! Activision sucks! And no amount of fanboi tears will change that fact.
